It was after the Benevolent Entities foretold of a great cataclysmic evil that all the races of the world Troria performed the hero summoning. Every Kingdom so far was successful and at last it was the Human Kingdom that had to perform the summoning.
Hero summoning is not a simple process.
The summoning was held at the Grand Church in the Human Capital of Ashwood. It was selected due to it having the highest concentration of Divine Mana that made hero summoning easier.
They also had access to the mana crystal vein underneath the Capital. Unlike the other races, both had yet to be drained for the summoning.
Lastly the summoning circle drawn by a Benevolent was operated by the strongest mages from each race. This is why each kingdom had to take turns.
Sitting on his throne was King Leon Elmheard with a scowl on his face. Why did he show such an emotion so openly? It was the man standing next to him.
Leon had never met with a man as happy as the Human Pope of the benevolent beings. The man was quite probably the very embodiment of good.
‘Such a man should not exist’ and yet there was a cheerful fat man smiling next to him. Somehow the pope was bathed in light and surrounded by flowers. ‘Is this an illusion?’ the King thought straining his eyes.
“Sariel there is an unknown evil brewing and you are smiling.” The king immediately regretted addressing the Pope.
Sariel’s smile widened and somehow his aura intensified. “Your Majesty, I am merely glad to have the opportunity to make acquaintance with a hero during my life time.”
“Fair enough” The King ended the conversation quickly. ‘Such a man should not exist’ he repeated. Leon was a cynical man, he had to be, as he was the king and was always deep in political strife. That said, no matter how hard he tried he could not find one shred of evidence, not one fault in the Pope and that bothered him. A lot.
It was at this point that the Human Court Mage Elelron approached. “Highness the preparations are finished and we can now start the summoning.”
“Begin.”
It was his time to shine. Leon projected a king’s aura suitable for his position. He put extra effort into it so he could not be out done by the Pope.
The summoning proceeded with flashing lights and rainbow lightning. Nothing too special, he had seen flashier spells. In the centre of the magic circle a humanoid figure of the hero could be seen covered in light.
‘Well this is taking some time. Guess I can relax for a while.’ Leon decided to review the information that the Court Mage Elelron lectured to him about.
“Hero summoning is rare. So rare in fact that in the last one thousand years it has only been used five times. It’s only used during cataclysmic events. The only other reason it hasn’t been exploited is because only Benevolent Beings are capable of drawing the magic circle for it. Past imitations have failed because of its complexity.”
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Your Majesty, a warning, heroes are heroes for a reason. If they deem you unworthy or you do not convince them to save the world they will become almost unpredictable and rebel. This was seen in the fourth generation of heroes when the dwarfen race enslaved their hero to harvest the most dangerous and precious of materials. Eventually the hero grew strong enough to break out of the magical enslavement and caused chaos within the kingdom. The dwarfs took a century to recover from that event.”
“The hero summoning summons the ‘recently dead’. So you do not have to worry about being accused of kidnapping as that issue was solved with the second generation. Also it is likely that the hero will be confused so please reassure them.”
Leon’s mind echoed Elelron’s boring lecture.
Gasp!
‘Ah I missed something.’ In the centre of the summoning circle there was a puddle of white sludge. The King assumed the worst. “Elelron report.” Leon ordered the unconscious mage. “…”
Luckily the orc shaman answered instead “We failed! When the Divine Mana ran out the required mana rose to insane amounts. We could not channel that amount!”
About half of the strongest mages in the world had collapsed. One was even foaming at the mouth with the white of his eyes showing. A priestess was attending him. ‘So I can count my court mage out for a week.’
“How much mana is left in the crystal vein?” “About half sir!”
‘Good, at least we are left with something to work with.’ The world would count one less hero to save it. In the grand scheme of things it was a significant loss with huge costs. ‘What am I going to do?’
There were a number of things he could think of immediately. It would be hard on his people more than what it would have been even with the hero. However the humans had their share to contribute to the effort. They could not run away from this responsibility as the calamity involved them too.
The King’s fingers dug into the bridge of his nose. ‘Today is a bad day.’ He then turned his head towards the Pope whose expression was close to crying. ‘I take it back, today is a good day hehehe.’

There is a lot of research before I start writing the next chapter... sigh. Then there are the tables (I FEEL YOUR PAIN FELLOW RRL WRITERS!). Then I have to think of a way to introduce the mc, the world and his initial start without info dumping all the time.... sigh. YEP don't expect frequent updates.
That said: Hello every one! :D
