A power he's always wanted. Now a curse he can't escape. Martin used to be human. He doesn't know what he is now. Part of an experimental gene therapy treatment, he wasn't prepared for the neurological side effects. Now he can hear the thoughts of those around him. When someone is sad, he feels their grief. When someone is happy, he celebrates. And when the creature appears, all he can feel is its hunger.   The doctor starts teaching at his school to keep an eye on him, but Martin can't help but feel like a rat in their maze.  He wishes he couldn't see the secret world his power reveals. And he definitely wishes the psychic monsters couldn't see him.
