Annabelle is a Cleaner -a skilled mage whose mission is the vanquishing of things which should not exist. Deep within the city of Shanhu, Nightmares made manifest from a time long past torment the populace, while the Prohibitum works to silence any knowledge of their existence. The development and usage of expressive and powerful magic is forbidden by the Prohibitum, but is the only way to effectively kill Nightmares, leaving vigilante Cleaners at odds with the authorities. Whenever a Nightmare is discovered, Annabelle is there with her fellow mages to dispose of it, but as she will soon learn, the nature of the game is changing. She will descend further into the dark spirit of the city than ever before to uncover and stop a growing force which could threaten Shanhu and the world beyond.
