Sisters Priya and Kess are changing. Shy, nerdy Kess has grown metal stars on the palms of her hands that spark with electricity, confident, social Priya feels strangely strong, and both feel compelled to eat old pennies and gold jewelry. Soon other young people begin to change--and not only their bodies, but their minds. Something is writing over their brains, creating enemies out of friends and even family. Divided by the bizarre infection transforming them, Kess investigates the source of these changes while Priya tries her best to keep two newly-formed gangs of super-powered teenagers from descending into violence.
