Synopsis
You are ancient, as old as the world itself. You watched as the seas of molten rock cooled, as countless mountains rose only to later crumble to dust, as oceans formed, and continents shifted. You witnessed the beginning of life itself, saw it change and evolve. For a time, you carefully studied all you could, gaining great knowledge and unlocking nature’s most closely guarded secrets, learning to bend its basic forces to your whim. Eventually though, you felt you had seen all there was to see. Species still changed and evolved, yes, but it just started to feel like it was all the same, new but not. You grew complacent, lazy, content to simply sleep and watch the area just outside the mouth of your cave, for nothing could surprise or excite you anymore after everything you had observed. That is what you thought, at least, until a creature unlike any you had encountered before stumbled into your home, showing you that perhaps even an existence as old as yourself could still be naive, and that maybe you should start getting out more again.
