Synopsis
The void, a giant chasm stretching down to depths unknown, was first discovered 3000 years ago on the remote, southern island of Patala. A most mysterious scape filled with horror and wonder, it enticed lords and thieves alike from all across the world to try their hand at conquering its unknowable end, for the precious treasures that lay in wait were unrivaled. In the present day, a thriving city has been developed with the void as its nexus; adventurers still dive into its depths with the same fervor as their predecessors, save for a few exceptions.
Heka is absolutely sick of the void. Growing up in the slums of Patala, she dreamt of leaving to explore the bright world around her, yet a curious curse keeps her bound to the tenebrous island, unable to ever leave its shores. She detests her peers' obsession with the void and wishes it would just disappear. Yet, it may end up being her only salvation. To fly away, she must first descend.
Old sorrows have always had a way of catching up to Phann, no matter where he may run. Descending from an ancient line of noble dragonborne that history has almost forgotten, his reputation is a mere kindling compared to the roaring flame of his ancestors'. Yet, he persists as if that were not true, gallivanting across the world while his people suffer.
As his allies back home grow weary of his increasingly volatile antics and his enemies begin to plot, he realizes there is only one, dreadful option remaining.
Despite being the crown princess of the Czilarian Empire, Vanna Skerinov dreams of nothing more than breaking away from the shackles of her tedious life-to-be. Blessed by the sword at birth, why should she suffer a dreary future filled with nothing but politics and governing? Why can she not ride the winds to fortune untold like the brave women in her books?
When a bloody war of succession erupts between her older brothers, Vanna takes it as her chance to flee, and never look back.
