This is a pilot for a series I am working on. I wanted to share it to see if there was any interest in continuing it. Vault, a woman with dreams of becoming a scrapper, one who delves into the ruins of the ancient AI gods, recovering lost tech for riches and fame. For her, it isn't about the money. At least, not entirely. She wants to explore the world, not only continuing the legacy of her grandfather, a once well renowned explorer whose reputation was tarnished by scandal, but restoring it by uncovering the truth of his mysterious disappearance and the alleged kidnapping of a noble woman belonging to one of the highest houses within Isernia's upper class. Tsen, a perpetually drunk Warden who never completed his training, torn from that life as a teen after the slaying of his mentor and father figure, forced to do the dirty work of Isernia's criminal underground in exchange for the barest minimum of Psionite, a mineral needed to keep him alive, to ensure his compliance. Their paths cross in an alleyway in the Canton of Citou as Vault, denied by the scrappers’ guild for her inexperience, stops a mugging and attempted murder with Tsen's help. Vault sees in Tsen a man battered by life, forced to kill and do other things he'd rather forget with the help of the bottle, but a good man who just needs a second chance. A chance that could help them both. For Vault, it means restoring the honor she is certain was stolen from her grandfather. For Tsen, a chance at revenge against those who would reduce him to a tool for so many years. Ruin of Axa is intended for mature audiences.
