A pervasive game is one in which the world is persistent. It lives and breathes even if no players are interacting with it. Pervasive Stars is an ambitious space sci-fi, multi-platform game being made with the combined effort of most major game companies, and garnered attention not for this, but for a competition they held. A lottery was held worldwide, in which fifteen winners would be given the privilege to add a custom-designed player faction to the game, tailored to their desires as best as could be balanced. The tagline for it, was “If it’s balanced, we’ll allow it.” This opened up many avenues for avid writers and gamers alike, all wanting to bring their dreams to life.
