Synopsis

Never let yourself get frozen. I know it seems like a good idea to someday hope that they will thaw you with a cure for whatever ailed you, but it's a bad idea to put your life in someone else's hands. You never know when you are going to wake up and your 'saviors' will be alien slavers instead of high-tech bearded geniuses. Those aliens might even be breaking the law by waking up something as dangerous as a human. And then, after finally getting away from those jerks, I find myself in what probably used to be a human world before they backslid into barbarism, and might makes right. Only, it wasn't high fantasy sword and sorcery, it most strongly resembled a cross between Chinese fantasy and the old West. Someone is going to have to bring law to this wild town, break the stranglehold aliens have over human technological advancement, and help protect the frontier settlement from greedy ancients, waves of monsters, criminal gangs, and bored murderhobos. And that someone will probably need my help! What to expect- Dungeon crawling. Law enforcement and Justice. Villains who prey on others, including women and children. Lots of descriptions of advancing technology and magic. A protagonist who used to be a trained killer back before his body rotted away. This story technically qualifies as haremlit, but not slavery. Lots of foreplay and flirting, but no over-the-top descriptions of male or female body parts or chapter-long sex scenes. Shapeshifting and descriptions from an animal's point of view! A semi-AI struggling to become a snarky system. Multiple magic systems. Multiple system interfaces. Pre-Christian mysticism. Broad definitions of what it means to be 'human'. Fantasy races, but no orcs, elves, or dwarves. Many creatures are taken from Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and German mythology. A hint of BDSM and 'male gazey' bits. The occasional viewpoint change or short flashback. A protagonist that can kick butt, even if he's not exactly OP. Tight women warriors. Lots of gunplay, and an unapologetic love of firearms and big explosions. Even wizards use them. Some Awesome HFY! action. A few tasty recipes, some of which can be made in this world, too. Making magic that works with clockworks and steam!
