Synopsis
The blood dripped from the god's blade, flanged edge serrated and whisper-sharp. She curled her lip, tongue flexing against plasma damp scale.
"Stop it." She curled her neck down, feathers rising across her spine, red-gold and death-dark. "You know there is no point to this war."
He hissed back, pupils slits in amber. The stone that made his body was dusted, fissured with a million miniscule cracks. "We cannot stop." His voice was fever-warm. "You know this."
"I do!" She cries, wings flexing up. "And yet we persist!"
He sighs, sibilant as a snake. "And yet we persist."
