Chapter 6

Alex couldn't understand what he was looking at. All he knew was that there were words in front of him, but there didn't seem to be any sense to them.

Has Host forgotten that you were attempting to summon a creature?

Hearing his system's reminder Alex burned with embarassment. The only good thing is that no one was around to see his blunder other than his uncaring robot of a system.

Alex coughed before telling the system, "No system. I did not forget, but was merely suprised." He felt the need to justify himself to the system for some reason.

  Understood Host.

Blowing out a sigh of relief, he asked the system what he was looking at.

Host, this is the beginner selection for Tower monsters.

"System can you clarify 'Tower monsters.'

As you wish Host. Tower monsters refer to the summons specific for the Tower dungeon. If Host had chosen another option the summoned would be three different choices. These monsters are non-sentient so that the players and NPC's of the game would not possess any guilt towards killing them. If this were to occur then there would be the chance of dungeons no longer being explored due to social political conflict.

"Thank you for clarifying system. Could you tell me what the options for the other dungeon types are?" Alex asked as a means to learn if there was any kind of dynamics between the dungeon types or perhaps any monster crossovers. The system remained silent. Sighing, Alex figured that the games system was prevented from giving out information about options the player has not picked.

"System, can you give me the description of each monster? I don't want to blindly go into this without at least a reference on what they do."

This system can not comply with Host inquiry. Host is proposed a major choice for his dungeon and must make an instinctive decision to define Hosts foundations.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Well now isn't that convenient. Whoever developed this game probably thought it would be funny when the players asked only to be brought up empty. 'Ugh, I wouldn't put it past dad if he did this on purpose just for me.'

"Alright. What did dad always say to do when presented with a problem that you have no clue on solving, "Take stock in whatcha got." First is I know that I know nothing about Wisps. From the name it sound etherial or noncorporeal. Then again it could easily just be something with something to do with water." Alex searched his memories of other games that he has played for anything regarding a monster known as 'Wisp' but could only make up inferences from its name.

"Well construct seems the easiest to understand." Thinking on one fantasy/strategy game he played in the past that sometimes referred to golems as constructed entities. "Though since it isn't stated as Golems picking them will probably just be any constructed or animated monster. Definitely an interesting choice."

'Interesting, but not reliable. Considering the name is Constructs then there should be some part of the monster system that will let me customize or build them myself. That is well and good, but there are no materials to build them. The only thing around to build them out of is dust and that is just asking to die.' Alex let his thoughts roil in his mind on the inefficiency of the constructs being presented to him while floating through space.

"And finally we are brought to Sprites. Hm, if I remember correctly aren't they related to fairies?" Although he thought back to all his gaming experience he couldn't quite finalize that hypothesis as a fact. Many fantasy games worked under different rules, so some fairies were called sprites while others were completely unrelated to the word. "Still, that sounds about right. That will mean that they are good at manipulating the natural elements."

Having taken stock in what he already knows and what he thinks he knows, Alex has decided what to do. His first acted was mentally crossing out Constructs as a viable choice. There just wasn't any viable materials to construct a monster from using space dust. Which brought the two other monster selections to his attention.

Neither were known to him. The only thing that he can say is that they both sounded magic based. That's is all well and good, but there was nothing that he could figure out that separated the two in how their magic would work.

Retreating to his thoughts, Alex mused on the differences between the two. On the one hand, Sprites were always relatively close to nature while Wisps are an unknown that could just be close to the water element. Thinking hard he decided to do close his eyes, spin in a circle and point.

Eyes now open, Alex looked at which his finger was closer to. "System I choose to summon a Wisp."
