Maxith, heir to the Opik empire, is thrust onto the frontlines of war by his father, King Decimus, along with his best friend Novius in an attempt to gain wealth and political favor. Both with starkly different backgrounds and skill sets they're utilized in different roles during a raid on an enemy city. Separated, they're forced to make due on their own and experience the true horrors and mishaps of battle leading to an unknown ancient curse being unleashed and infesting their lives. With a changed outlook on the world around them, they find themselves on their own paths to save the world from an inevitable timeline of misery and suffering due to greedy rulers and complacent gods whilst struggling to maintain a grasp on their mental stability with insanity following quickly in their steps.
