Eighty-Two was the peak of Earth's artificial intellence program. Before the end of the world began, anyway. Humanity's self-destruction began with the bombing of Sol Research and Development, the facility where Two was created and given a robotic body. Minutes before the missiles struck, his creator, Dr. Paul Matthews, woke him from his shutdown mode, giving him one last mission and a chance to travel the universe. Now, the lone, self-aware robot travels the galaxy in an effort to complete Matthews' final command to him.  To feel human emotions, and to understand the value of life. Two's drive to complete the mission his creator left for him has taken him all over the galaxy in the last three hundred years. After centuries of experimenting with different things to try to stimulate human emotion in himself- including mass theft, growing flowers, assassination, and motherhood- his travels have led him to a medieval-era planet inhabited by humanlike creatures. Now, he plans to attempt to form social bonds with other individuals. Will things change for Eighty-Two? Or will he remain a cold, calculating machine forever?
