The world has since well before anyone or their forebearers can remember been at war. The Evil, as it’s colloquially called, represents an existential threat to humanity. But it’s- they’re?- sapient as well. They could be reasoned with. Over the course of  three days, diplomats attend a trial to determine if a treaty offer will be sent. They need, for their own various reasons, to not let diplomacy lead to the war’s end.
