The former Emperor Cen and his family have been assassinated.  In the aftermath, gods and demons created chaos across all of Cenwu. Famine, pestilence, drought, landslides, flooding, you name it, they've supplied it. The people first praised the gods who brought them their blessings, but when they turned to curses, the people turned their backs on them too. Shrines and prayers are abandoned as people lose faith in the heavens. Wily demons slide into the gap, filling ears with sly promises and salacious ideas.  Zhazi and his sister Xiatong, have only got each other in the wide world. Their family was taken from them before their eyes. The gods abandoned them and the demons wish to find them. Yet, they only wish to survive, and thrive, and return with their revenge. If it changes the shape of their souls, if it takes their promised immortality, and even if it causes their souls to be banished from resurrection, they're determined to succeed.
