What started as a simple Journey to the next city turned out to be quite the disaster.Jane, after losing her house in a random fire decides to venture out for the first time and get a new life in the city next door. She enlists the help of a mercenary but he runs away with her money and leaves her stranded. Now, penniless she searches for someone who'd help her but there is no one. Who'd risk their lives out in the wilderness fighting monsters for a girl who had nothing to offer in return? Desperate, she ventures out despite everything and meets a man who's willing to take her to the city as he too is headed there but in exchange for Jane's Grandmother's staff. Jane agrees and for the first half of the journey, it all goes smoothly. The man appears to be a good hunter and someone safe. But after narrowly escaping a goblin ambush, Jane realizes, the man was absurdly unstable and definitely... Not safe. PS.
