Synopsis
Ivy Pearls lives in a narcissistic and discriminatory world where your status matters more than anything. The worst a person could ever be is a Powerless and the gruesome Holders never fail to make this clear everyday. After witnessing and encountering a series of executions, adversities, and inequality as an ungifted child, Ivy decides enough is enough. She flees her death-dealing kingdom in dread and hostility, only to come back three years later to finish what should have ended centuries ago. With the help of her mentor, Ivy has mapped out a scheme that she hopes will tear the entire kingdom down by the time she's through. The first part of it is easy, and after it's done, not only is she despised but millions of Holders are demanding her head. In time, she learns she's not the only person who's willing to risk their lives for justice, and for the rest of her devilish plot to work, Ivy must put her trust in thirteen other students who are just as troubled and insistent as she is. So, what happens when trust is the one thing she's lacking? Fourteen adolescents. How are they meant to save one kingdom, let alone the entire continent, when they can hardly save themselves from their barbaric fates?
