Synopsis
Most people these days burn through their lives never once having met an angel; a spirit of providence carrying good tidings on gilded wings like a divine dove - washing away all worries and woes and lifting up the righteous and the repentant above the indignities of reality. But to the chosen few who do heed the call of the Holy Host, they are welcome in the hallowed halls of Luminous Mercy Ministries and its associated chapels. Non-denominational, nondiscriminatory, and catering to those who’ve lost faith in faith itself.
But for Jackie Estacado, someone who’s died once before and returned with a terrible curse in tow, he can say with authority that there’s no such thing as angels. Only the Angelus and her Legion - a parasitic entity of pure ethereal fire that moves from body to body, century to century, obsessed with remaking the world into a living sun where no shadow or secret can survive.
But where does that leave humanity? Moreover, where does that leave those loyal acolytes addicted to the euphoria of her worship?
Set within a reinvention of the Top Cow Universe - in particular the characters of The Darkness co-created by Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis, and David Wohl - No Angel serves as a one-shot introduction to a more contemporary and grounded version of those characters; from Jackie himself - a failed rock star-turned-fugitive for murder - to the Angelus and her newest vessel, the adulterous widow of his former employer and the bittersweet object of Jackie’s own unrequited desires.
