In the middle of a desolate plain, laid millions of corpses. These corpses belonged to Cultivators, Mortals, strange beasts, demons and so on. It was obvious from a glance that this place had been the location of a great battle not too long ago.
Among the corpses, grievously wounded and those that had faked death to escape the madness, laid a young boy, no older than ten. His azure blue eyes were dull and his hair had become bleached silver. As he laid there, he took long, weak breaths as he gazed at the sky.
Suddenly, he smiled as he gazed at the sky, “Finally, I will be free. Mei…. I will finally be able to see you again sister.” As he mumbled that to himself, blood leaked out fro the corners of his mouth. As he felt his consciousness dim and everything fade to black, he heard an aged voice ring out next to him, “Hmm…. Your skeletal age is ten years old but your cultivation is astonishingly in the Peak Stages of Palace Building.”
The young boy tried to vainly turn his eyes towards the hazy figure he could see in the corner of his eyes. “Ahh, I don’t have any strength left any more...” As the thought passed his head, his vision turned completely black.
Last thing he heard was a sorrowful voice, “Those Devil Dao followers truly have no morals what so ever… To force a little boy such as you to cultivate a hidden technique that consumes your vitality…. Since we have met, it must have been fate. Let me bestow some good fortune to you.” Although his vision was completely black, he still heard what the aged voice had said.
However, after that, he fell into a deep, deep sleep.

Inside a plainly furnished cave the young boy sat at a table, with a knife in hand, carefully carving a figure. The boy had changed a lot, although he still looked around ten years old, his aura and demeanour was vastly different from before.
He now excluded the astonishing aura of a Nascent Soul Cultivator. Suddenly, a familiar aged voice rang out form behind him, “Now that you have reached the Peak Nascent Soul stage for the 9th time, have you figured out the true strength and meaning behind this technique?” The young boy gently blew the wood carvings off from the little figure and set it on the table.

He then unhurriedly stood up and looked towards the man. The man had long white hair and his skin wasn’t exactly wrinkled but aged. The old man looked at the boy with a smile. The boy let out a sigh as he said, “During the First Rebirth, I thought that the purpose of this 9 Rebirth Techniques was to use 9 different cultivation methods.
When the Ninth Rebirth was finished and it was time to assault the Mortal Saint stage, you could use the nine Cultivation Arts to gain an extremely wide and varying arsenal.” He then let out a gentle breath as he said, “After reaching the Mortal Saint stage, the person would retain all the special abilities and physiques attained from training those techniques. However….”
The old man gently nodded as he listened to the boy, he didn’t say he was wrong or right, just listened. Seeing the old man not betray anything, the boy continued with a sigh, “However, during my Second Rebirth I realized that it was wrong.”
He gently shook his head as he continued, “All those Cultivation Arts would conflict with one another and at best case scenario destroying ones Dantian and destroying his or her cultivation. Worst case scenario….” He didn’t have to finish his sentence for the old man to understand what he meant. The old man didn’t say a word but just nodded gently to the boys words, indicating that he was on the right path.
The boy then continued, “The main use of the technique is to find the most suitable technique for a person during these Nine Rebirths. When the person finds a good Cultivation Art, he or she can immediately disperse all of his cultivation to start over one last time and cultivate the technique most suitable to them.”
The old man nodded his head and opened his mouth but before he could say anything, the young boy continued, “There is also a second guess I have and plan on using.” The old man raised his brow in surprise as he gently nodded his head and indicated for the boy to continue. The boy gave a sly smile as he said, “The other option is to use those Nine Rebirths to the best one can and develop a personal Cultivation Art. Although one would train in a different Cultivation Art each time, one can collect as many different Arts as he can during those Nine Rebirths and craft a personalised Cultivation Art most suitable to his or her body. Then after dispersing ones cultivation they would use the Nine Rebirth Technique to cultivate the Art nine times. Since it is all one same technique, the boost in power is amplified several times and there is no fear of the Cultivation Arts conflicting.”
The old man opened his mouth in surprise and then let out a genuine smile as he nodded his head saying, “Good, you truly have figured out the greatest use of this technique. As I promised all those years ago, I will take you to be my personal Disciple now.”
