For the past 300 years, the world had been ruled by a group of 50 combat masters - the Absolute Generation - who had thought themselves immortal. Each possessed an affinity for magic, weapons and martial combat. It seemed almost certain that, so long as their alliance held, nobody could ever overtake them. They locked away knowledge of their magic and skills and forbid all but them to wield weapons, crushing all resistance before it even began. But their supposed immortality turned out to be temporary, their method flawed. The Absolute Generation had fallen, and with them presented both a power vacuum and opportunity. Opportunity for a new generation to rise - a generation that Emile was hoping to be part of.
