Chapter 92: Culprit

Chapter 92: Culprit

"A second Oleg?"

This was the very first thing that came to Li Wei's mind. I did not really make sense but the fact that the scar left by the sword was no longer there, coupled with how Oleg's personality always altered between the friendly one and the cold one.

In front of him, Li Wei could clearly see the "kind" Oleg. The aura around him seemed friendlier and more approachable. While Li Wei was still deep in thoughts, Oleg noticed him, "Hey Seven! How is it going?"

'Huh?'

Surprised by the sudden call, Li Wei did not know how to react. He stayed silent for a moment before saying, "Hey Oleg, everything is fine. I did not see any robbers, only you!"

"Haha. Are you saying that I do a good job at looking after this place? If I was, then no graverobber would ever dare to step in it," answered Oleg with a carefree smile.

"Haha, I hope you are not too mad at me after I mistook you for the grave robbers," said Li Wei. His tone was casual but inside, he was looking for any sign of surprise.

Oleg casually smiled, "It is fine. Don't worry! It is not the first time this happens, I was just angry on the spur of the moment but now, everything is fine."

"Cough Cough! I should get going. We must not let down our vigilance!" declared Oleg and without waiting for Li Wei's answer, he hurriedly walked towards his house.

'Hmmm very suspicious,' thought Li Wei. Oleg's behavior clearly demonstrated his nervousness as soon as the injury was mentioned; it was the exact opposite of what he said!

There was no way to confirm it, but Li Wei decided to bet on that. He quickly also made his way to Oleg's house and entered without knocking.

"Hey!"

Inside, a surprised Oleg who was busy drinking a potion suddenly shouted. He was startled by the sudden opening of the door and could not help but cough out part of the potion he was drinking.

"Ah Seven. You scared me! I know I said you could come in at any time, but you should have knocked at the door first..." said Oleg with a light laugh. He let out a weird smile as the potion in his hand discreetly disappeared.

But it was too late, Li Wei clearly saw it. He was not an expert in potions, but he could not miss a Health Potion when he saw one. Furthermore, when Li Wei looked at Oleg, he could see the effects of the potion taking place.

On his left cheek, a freshly made cut was slowly closing as the blood stopped flowing out. It was visible with naked eyes, there was no way for Li Wei to miss it. In a few seconds, it only left behind a long scar similar to the previous one!

"Sorry to surprise you, Oleg. It was just that the door was open so I did not think much about it," said Li Wei. He looked carefree like he did not notice anything and made his way toward the jug of coffee on the table.

"Never mind... never mind... Please make yourself comfortable," said Oleg as he also picked a cup of coffee as he turned his head to hide the scar. 'Did he notice something?'

Li Wei simply smiled and poured some coffee for himself.

Oleg quietly stretched his collar as he moved his other hand to create a light breeze on his face, "Ouhh, it's so hot here! I should have waited before drinking the coffee!"

Li Wei grabbed his own cup of coffee as he stared at Oleg before frowning and saying: "This coffee is cold!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, Li Wei immediately made the two dark runic swords appear in his hands as he charged towards Oleg. He did not care about the cup of coffee and simply let it fall down as it shattered on the cold floor.

"Ting!"

A single loud sound resounded in the room as Oleg raised his shovel just in time to parry the swords.

"What are you doing? Seven? Are you crazy?" exclaimed Oleg. Although he succeeded in blocking the attack, his weak right arm was visibly shaking under the pressure Li Wei was applying.

Oleg was a level 15 NPC, but he could only take a step back to maintain his balance.

"I am not sure how you did it... But you are the one responsible for the raiding of the graveyard! The scar on your cheek gave it away..."

Oleg grunted as he parried another sword strike, "This is just a coincidence! Can't I just cut myself when I am at home?"

"Who are you trying to trick?" shouted Li Wei as he continued to attack. He slowly pushed Oleg toward the living room.

Before taking the job of gravekeeper, Oleg used to be an adventurer; a ranger to be precise. When he was younger, he used to go out of the town and hunt every day at the dungeon or at the neighboring hunting grounds. Unfortunately, not all adventurers were successful, especially when one aimed too high.

In the end, he was left behind by his team. He could only go out hunting solo or find a job at the town and the chose the latter. While the life of a gravekeeper wasn't that exciting, it paid the bills which was good enough for Oleg.

Li Wei was very careful as he attacked Oleg. The environment was not ideal for him to move around and he was keeping track of his surroundings in case the "clone" would appear. Oleg was staying on the defensive, only parrying the attacks and trying to reason with Li Wei until suddenly, a faint creaking sound was heard.

He did not need a second warning. As soon as he heard the sound, Li Wei abruptly stopped attacking and jumped to the side, pushing the furniture next to him.

"Tink! Bang! Crash!"

A series of sounds resounded in the house as all the decorations on the furniture fell and exploded on the floor. Li Wei did not have time to be careful about his surroundings, he turned his head just in time to see a bright bluish projectile flying towards the exact position he was standing at a few seconds ago.

"Boom"

Li Wei watched as a [Mana Bolt] exploded. Contrary to his expectations, the explosion was very small which meant that the caster was either very weak or that the attack was toned down to avoid damaging the surroundings.

In the kitchen, one of the tables near the hob suddenly moved as a secret door opened from the wall. Li Wei was stunned as he saw that scene; never would he have thought that a door was hiding there; it simply blended perfectly with the decorations. Fortunately, the caster was in a hurry when he opened the door, resulting in the creaking sound, or else, Li Wei would have been completely taken off guard.

"How dare you attack my brother!?"

Li Wei frowned as a word appeared in his mind, "Twins?"

The second Oleg was standing just in front of the newly opened door. He looked exactly like the other Oleg except that his temperament was slightly different, he was slightly frowning making him look more aggressive and reckless. They had the same physical features and were even wearing the same clothes. The only difference was that the second Oleg was holding a short mage wand.

However, Li Wei did not have time to process this information; the first Oleg who was now facing Li Wei's back, suddenly launched an attack.

"Bang!"

"-21"

As Li Wei's attention was directed toward the second Oleg. The first one took the opportunity and violently bashed the shovel on Li Wei's head. Li Wei could not react in time and could only take the damage, but he quickly fought back.

He swung his blades toward the Ranger Oleg to force him back into a defensive stance before rushing toward the Mage Oleg. In this battle, it was clear that if he wanted to win, he needed to take down the mage first!

[Blade Draw]

Li Wei broke away from the Ranger Oleg and immediately sent a wind blade toward the mage. He did not have much time to think. If he could kill these two Olegs, then his quest would be completed. He would simply need to show the bodies as proof.

However, as the mage saw the wind blade flying toward him, he did not feel threatened and displayed a smug face.

[Mana Barrier]

A large transparent barrier appeared in front of the mage, completely blocking the wind blade. Mana Barrier was a more advanced version of Mana Shield. Not only was it not restricted to protecting the user, but it could also absorb more damage.

The mage easily negated Li Wei's skill and quickly counter-attacked with [Mana Burst]. He coordinated perfectly with his brother, forcing Li Wei to move towards the incoming shovel.

Li Wei frowned but quickly jumped to the side to avoid the [Mana Burst] while activating [Roar] to push back the Ranger Oleg.

"F*ck... So you were really behind all of this! Oleg... I trusted you, but you really raided all these tombs... You should just surrender... Even if I die here, you know I will just revive and inform everyone!" exclaimed Li Wei while raising his swords in a defensive position.

The mage showed an amused expression, "You should stop looking at me, I am not Oleg. And to answer your question, it does not matter if you revive since it will only happen tomorrow!"

'Tomorrow?' thought Li Wei with a confused expression. "What do you mean? What is happening tomorrow?"

He turned toward the Ranger Oleg just in time to parry the shovel before pushing him back. Fighting two enemies at the same time was not easy especially since they were positioned in opposite directions. Li Wei had to constantly keep an eye on the mage to avoid being taken by surprise.

"You are too curious! If only you ignored the scar, you could have lived a bit longer. Also, don't get the wrong idea, how do you think I managed to pass the trial of truth if I really raided those tombs? Everything I said was the truth, I did not even touch anything from those tombs, everything was done by my brother! Finding loopholes is so easy," said Ranger Oleg with a laugh. After having confirmed Li Wei's standing, he was no longer staying on the defensive side. He was not as agile as he used to be, but he was still able to constantly attack with the shovel.

"Tink Tink!"

The mage was not casting any spells. Ranger Oleg was too close to Li Wei at the moment and would inevitably be caught in the explosion if he did. As a result, the mage was calmly waiting with his wand ready while his cooldowns were refreshing.

As for Li Wei, he was confused, "What is happening tomorrow? Could there be an event?"

That question was torturing him but he nevertheless held his ground. He did not find Oleg threatening since his own dexterity was high and Oleg was not using a real weapon.

'I was too impulsive... I should have waited and pretended to not have noticed anything. As soon as I would have alerted the association, my quest would have been considered complete but now... It looks like I need to deal with those two or I will lose a level for nothing...' thought Li Wei.

[Gliding Steps]

After clashing with Ranger Oleg, Li Wei quickly used his skill and once again charged towards the mage. He was sticking with his plan but the mage reacted by casting [Mana Bind] and [Mana Bolt]

Li Wei jumped and dodged the [Mana Bind] but the mage cleverly positioned the [Mana Bolt] such that Li Wei could only bite the bullet. The environment was not suitable for Li Wei; there were a lot of furniture and decorations lying around which easily got in the way of his swords.

Although he took some damage, Li Wei finally got into melee range of the mage. He smiled as [Cleave] was activated but at the same moment, the mage's boots shone. The pair of boots was different from the heavy looking one he was wearing at the graveyard. It looked slimmer and more refined, a few pieces of jewelry could also be seen which highlighted its dark color.

The Dark Runic Sword was about to hit the mage but suddenly, he vanished out of nowhere. The sudden disappearance of the mage and the fact that his blade did not meet anything concrete stunned Li Wei. He did not know how to react for a moment when he heard a quiet laugh coming from behind him.

"It looks like the items of those rich nobles aren't so bad after all. Brother. Let's quickly deal with that guy. We still have the last delivery to do," commented the mage while laughing.

Li Wei turned his head only to find the mage calmly standing next to his brother, Ranger Oleg. He did not look harmed at all and even looked bored by the fight. At his feet, the boots were slowly losing their luster.

"An equipment with a skill? And from their words, it sounds like they have others..." said Li Wei to himself while repositioning himself.

"Alright! Let's finish this quickly. We need to get out of here as soon as possible," answered Ranger Oleg while throwing the shovel behind him. He wildly kicked the cupboard next to him, breaking all the glasses on it. But as the cupboard was blown away, it revealed the pair of daggers it was hiding under it.

Ranger Oleg quietly bent down and picked the daggers. While he used to be an archer, the ranger class did not only use bows, they also used other weapons like daggers, knives and throwing weapons. The pair of daggers looked rather old but compared to the shovel, they were far more threatening.

"Well Seven, I hope you won't resent me too much for that. We all have our own struggles to survive."
