Synopsis
Los Angeles, 1984. Brad Richards is stuck on the Santa Monica Freeway in his Ford Bronco. A large billboard at the side of the freeway shows a woman with purple lips in a metallic helmet, her eyes obscured by a silver visor. The text below, in slanted futuristic letters, reads:
The NeuroNexus 9000 – Nothing will ever be the same
That commercial has been running on TV, radio, and in cinemas for weeks, gearing up for the Christmas shopping. It’s a video game console of some sort, but it looks nothing like the Nintendo Brad’s been grinding Super Mario on for the past year.
Well, Brad does want some change in his life, as it’s gone from stale to downright unbearable since he found his girlfriend and wife-to-be humping his best friend on the sofa. He buys one of the futuristic video game consoles.
The ads were right. Nothing will ever be the same again. Brad’s plunged into a game world where everything is possible—but where everything is also at stake. New friendships are tested as a powerful enemy emerges to destroy them all.
