You do well in high school so you can go to university in the big city, get a degree, and get a good job. That was Rain Murray's plan, anyway. Then he ended up with a degree for a dead industry, living hand-to-mouth working jobs that didn't care about the degree and milled away his will to live shaving by shaving. His salvation, he hopes, will be in a peculiar security job he received an advert for in the post. But he doesn't even make it to the interview before things go to hell in a hand basket and his understanding of reality gets an unfortunate punch in the mouth. Also, the performance metrics for his new line of work... well, they revolve around the precision application of violence. Or the extreme application of violence. The successful application of violence, let's say. His inclinations and the skills he gets equipped with, on the other hand... Negative Kill Count is a sort of lite litRPG, in that I'm borrowing elements of the genre but will probably not be putting in any kind of stat blocks or skill blocks, set at least partly in a bootleg version of contemporary South Africa. In the unlikely but possible event you're familiar with my previous story, this is substantially Grimmer and Edgier and More Brutal. Or, well, probably will be. It's also my 2022 NaNoWriMo/Writathon effort, but fair warning: I'm absurdly busy at work and November is a busy month for me otherwise as well. Also, last time I did this I had an outline. I don't even have that this time! So while I do have some ideas of where the story may go, I can't promise it'll be great. Now that I'm done shooting myself in the foot, why not give it a try?
