Synopsis

Mere weeks have passed since Arthas Menethil set sail for Northrend, racing towards the Frozen Throne. Sylvanas Windrunner, from being mere moments from claiming her vengeance, finds herself further away from that goal with each passing day. Shunned, distrusted and hated, her Forsaken are without friends in a world that has no place for them. Beset by the Scourge and the rising Scarlet Crusade and with far too few resources, the Dark Lady grows increasingly desperate. She would ally with almost anyone if it would give her people a chance. The sudden arrival of two unlikely visitors inadvertently leads her to consider a small city state across the sea, reputedly ruled by an archmage with a certain history with a certain prince. A story mainly revolving around Sylvanas Windrunner, Jaina Proudmoore and the Dark Rangers. About the content warnings: Profanity - The uncouth dark rangers swear and curse like the restless dead they are. The vast majority of it is to underline a point or as an exclamation, a very small part is in the context of insulting someone else. Gory content - Azeroth is a warlike place and this story is no exception. Peoples wage wars and fight battles wherein people are hurt and die. Traumatising content - The Forsaken undead have been magically forced into servitude before breaking free and made to commit heinous acts or murder which haunts them severely. The protagonists have suffered the losses of people close to them and in more than one occasion blame themselves for it. The Scarlet Crusade, in its clichéd inquisitorialness, will not hesitate to torture its enemies if caught but that is not described in particular detail. Can be disturbing enough still. When I list it like this I feel I should also underline that the sad and terrible parts play important roles for the story but they do not make up the majority of the content. Something that at least does NOT appear is sexual abuse, which I mention explicitely because there are a few instances where one could be led to wondering if something like that has happened to the character previously.
