As my vision returned I found myself in… my room? The whole room down to the smallest details was present. Awestruck I stood up from the bed and crouched and inspected a hole in the wall from last week when dad broke the lamp against it. Even the fractures were there. Still staring I detected a hint of smoke, I turned around and found my room completely ablaze. “Shit”. Still dazed it took a falling book nearly burning my hand for me to move. I raced to the door but it also blazed an inferno. As I last result I raced to the window the edges and found the glass hot to touch. A reached down and fumbled for anything I grabbed my crappy 3rd gen computer and hurled it with all of my might at the window. With a majestic flight it flew straight into the wall and shattered. “Shiiiit” I then rushed the window and in a flurry of anger punched with all my fury. Shattering at my blow the window blew out into the street below. Far below. Like I lived on a 3rd story not the 30th floor and what was below me was way higher than 30 feet. 

Out of desperation I climbed out and saw my certain death looming far far below. As the flames grew in my room my shirt became soaked with sweat then immediately dried due to the inferno behind. With a scream of unjust anger I dove out hoping to land in something safe. As my vision began to blur and for the street to enlarge I remember hoped the pain wouldn’t be realistic. Seconds from impact I stop jarringly and slowly levitate to a fire truck waiting nearby. At the end of the trucks ladder a strange man in blue robes motioned toward me. Once I was in arms length I felt the air below me dissipate and the man grabbed my arm. “Thanks” I tried to say to the man but was unable to do more than release the air I had been holding in fright.

With a jarring gasp the man collapsed his robe failing about “overdid… help ..”With one last gasp he collapsed. I immediately grabbed his head and tested his pulse. It didn’t work. I think. I had b=never tried it before. I leaned back and was about to yell for help when I noticed a shiny black device and a velvet pouch. Quickly looking around to make sure I wasn’t being watched I quickly “borrowed” both items and placed them in my own singed clothes before calling for help. As some weirdly dressed guys ran over and began touching the guy I crept away from the scene. After a couple blocks I became overcome with a weird sense of nostalgia, it was like the city here was the same as my real life city but at the same time different. People still walked on the sides and cars still drove but the actual buildings seemed familiar but different. Ignoring this I concentrated on the people and saw very few caped crusaders flying or more commonly walking around. Just as I was about to acknowledge my complete failure at directions a hand grabbed my arm and pulled me into a side alley.

“What the..” I stuttered before a hand clamped down stopping my attempt. “I saw you steal that elemental’s purse and phone boy.” A deep growl echoed in the alley “now why did you go and do that?”. I stuttered back, “he didn’t need it anymore and I do”. “You surprise me with your honesty boy, what your name?”

Instantly a huge block appeared in front of my head reminding me I was in a game saying

“Ace” I answered. “Very well Ace.., I see potential in you and am interested in an apprentice to further my reach.” “what do you do?” I asked. “I am what most would call a villain but to me… to me I am the righteous…”
