Synopsis
Isabella Boyce has been battling with a seizure-like illness all her life which leaves her body shivvering and cold to the touch. Doctors are baffled by the sudden drop in her skin temperature but haven't been able to link a cause, making her a case study for various programs around the globe. Troubling, though dismissable, are the visions that accompany the seizures. Fantom sounds and sights pepper her vision and resurface in her nightmares.
Despite these hardships, she has been able to graduate from university as a game designer/programmer and has been deemed able enough to live on her own since her seizures have become less frequient. Although she has to work from home most of the time, she is able to form frendships with her coworkers and finally feel like she's starting to live a normal life like everyone else.
That is, until the seizures come back.
This time, the visions are becoming more clear and the phantom sounds from her youth consolidate into a voice and eventually words.
"Please, I beg of you." The voice echos in a pressing whisper. "Whoever is listening. I am alone, where enemies abound."
Isabella is frozen, entranced by the sourceless plea, "Whatever gods are willing to bend an ear..."
During one of her fits, a brilliant flash of cold, hateful light, sets Isabella on a journey to realize the genesis of her condition and the one who calls her. In so doing, she is forced to confront questions about herself, her beliefs and her illusions of free will.
