Every year, the Horde attacks the Wall and tries to destroy humanity. And every year, the four main Houses of Endymion gather their men and resources to form the Annual army to fight back the Horde. That's been the way of things for nearly 100 years. But where once the Horde was simply a collection of mindless monsters, there are some who have attained the knowledge to effectively fight humanity.  And where once specially attuned humans, called Poteres, could connect to the Lunar and Solar planes and have unimaginable abilities, they are no longer able to tap into that vast power. Now, humanity is fighting a losing battle and only a select few know the truth about the Horde's new leaders and the Potere's fall from grace. But what is the price of secrecy? And would the truth destroy humanity or save them?
