[To preface I had Grand Plans for this story (though clearly it never got past the Prologue), but I realised that everything I'd come up with was surface level, and incomplete ideas. Clearly I was a bit to eager to *start* this project, and I've decided to actually put more thought into it before I proceed. Sorry.]Friendly acquaintance to all, best friend to none.  Alexander Stoll, was a lonely sort, but content. Or so he's managed to convince himself. He had no direction in life, simply drifting along. No dreams, no aspirations, and nothing he really looked forward to. That was until the newest game system was announced. Despite Alex having been an avid PC gamer, this was different. From a company that had risen from naught but dust, came word of a new Virtual Reality system. We're not talking about some box you can strap to your face, but a full helm, neural link and all! Promises of lifelike worlds, great adventures known only in legend, and a freedom to do whatever your heart desired. To Alex, this was the opportunity of a lifetime. For the first time, in a long time, he had a wish. An opportunity to reinvent himself? Be a hero beloved by all? Or simply...a chance to be anyone else?  He'd be a part of that beta if it killed him. Now, follow Alex, as he explores his new virtual reality, going on adventures untold! Or...that was the plan, at least. Things get a little more serious when logging out stops being an option...
