Fedrahn is supposed to be a scribe, but that is not why he came to the floating island.  He came for their secrets, too bad they will never let him get that far into their settlement. It seems like his mission might just be an impossible one, at least until he gets to know Garin, the only other resident on the island who is not allowed to train with the others. This small brown boy looks blind, but he is not, he looks three, but is almost six, and he learns almost ten times faster than anyone Fedrahn knows. Not only that, but he may be unusually talented. Fedrahn might just have stumbled onto a secret bigger than he'd expected. He just has to show the arch masters how good Garin is, have him learn to dance, and then steal him away from the boring island.
