Synopsis
Land of Opportunity is a Kingdom-Building style novel with elements of a finance thriller set in an imagined tropical island during the colonial period. Unlike many novels in this genre, I hope to avoid tropes and plot contrivances that lead to unrealistic economic prosperity. The main character, Issac, faces seriously difficult conditions without clear resolutions or prioritization. This is further hampered by political sabotage, economic depression, and the conflict of his heart. The setting is slightly a-historical; I will be sticking to the technology of the 16th century, but with fictional politics and participating countries as I don't wish to explore race relations or the morality of colonization. Instead I will focus on intra-family political machinations, economic growth, and the limits of the entrepreneurial spirit.
Prince Issac has been exiled in all but name, his new Principality is a small tropical island in dire straits. Can he bring the island back from the brink of collapse into economic prosperity, fight off saboteurs, and get revenge on those who sent him here? Find out in this story!
