An orb of light flew toward me and Glacien, I readied my guard and tried to cut down the orb, but nothing happened. To think that this kind of thing could happen…
You obtained the Cryomancer class.
You unlocked the Ice Affinity parameter.
You unlocked the Aptitude: Frost Wielder.
You unlocked the skill: Glacial Shard.
You unlocked the skill: Frost Wield.
Frost Wielder: Gain 1 point of experience for every second you slow down a target with ice magic.
Glacial Shard: Conjure a sharp shard of ice and launch it at your target. The shard deals damage equal to your magic and has a chance to freeze the target in place for 2 seconds, reducing their movement speed by 30% if they are not fully frozen. The frozen target takes additional damage from subsequent ice attacks. Cost: 20 Mana.
Frost Wind: Release a burst of freezing energy around you, dealing damage equal to your magic and creating a chilling effect that slows all nearby enemies by 40% for 6 seconds. Enemies caught in the frost wind have their attack speed reduced by 20% and have a chance to be frozen for 1 second. Cost: 50 Mana.
I finally unlocked ice affinity, but at this point in time, it was useless in such an environment… I soon checked Glacien’s parameters as well, and it looked like more than a few things changed as well.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
‘She got multipliers for spirit and endurance… a new aptitude and a new class as well. I have to check the class later.’
“This should do it. A final piece of warning. Those types of people don’t take any chances. The moment they decided to attack you with the worm, they prepared to fail as well, so your business with them won’t end here.”
“I figured as much.”
“Well then, we probably won’t meet again.”
The ice phoenix took flight with a swing flap of its wings and then flew to the clouds with insane speed.
“Squeak! Squeak!”
It looked like Glacien was saying goodbye… as usual. I don’t get how she can make so many types of sounds. I wondered if I could have tamed the ice phoenix after becoming free from the labyrinth. But then Glacien looked at me with suspicion in her eyes.
“The more allies, the better, right? Even more so the ones who are bound to my will. At this point in time, I might as well make friends and force them to sign magic contracts with me as well.”
I decided to put those thoughts away and then head to the area where I found the ships of those cloaked guys. Soon enough, I confirmed that they were no longer there… some of them left to warn their allies about my existence, apparently.
‘I guess I will have to leave this place… too many people already know about my existence here.’
At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me if Rayner had learned about my existence here and was on the way as well… while I was considering those thoughts, I saw something in the corner of my eyes. When I checked the direction with Hawk’s Vision, I confirmed that it was a pirate ship.
‘What the heck…’
The ship was filled with people… like really crowded. There were at least two hundred people on them. They should be refugees, and that would mean that they were abandoning their land. Soon enough, more and more ships began to head to the Northwest.
In that direction, they would probably reach the Felyndor, the beastkin realm. It looked like despite their numbers, they lost the war… and if they were already in this area, the empire should be securing the other towns right at the moment. Another reason to bail.
‘Felyndor has those kinds of factions as well. Some of them even sell their own as slaves, so I wonder if they will be welcomed. Regardless, I have my own problems to worry about, like where I should go.’
My eyelids were getting heavier and heavier by the minute, so I had to make my choice as soon as possible. Nimir was in that land, but I probably shouldn’t find him. I shouldn’t look for Vincent either… My vampiric powers are awakening and I need to learn how I can control them.
My other options were to return to the human territory and lie low for a while or head to the Aeloria Dominion. I can also just cross those places and head to the dwarven territory, and Talymor kingdom. Toward West was the place where those cloaked guys came from. Perhaps a lot of vampires were there, so it was no good.
Further East, while crossing weeks and weeks in the ocean, I would reach the Blazoria enclave… a mountainous land filled with volcanos. Aside from people that have bodies that can burn like fire, further I can find the Saurian Confederacy and the lizard people that live there.
I had a lot of options, but heading east would mean crossing the Aquarian kingdom territory, or at least the area where they were most active. Heading south was hard to go since I had not a single idea of what I would find there.
“What do you think, Glacien?”
“Squeak! Squeak!”
“Good choice, all right then… let’s go.”
… …
Two months had passed since the departure of Ulric and Remi to the Skarnash Tribelands for the war of conquest of those lands. And one month had passed since they asked for reinforcements and some news arrived to the empire as well.
The moment he heard both of this news, Rayner decided to move and offer himself to lead the expedition. The heads of the empire soon agreed to that, since they knew how Rayner could work to the bone when the honor of his family was involved.
“Papa, don’t frown all the time. You will get wrinkles.”
“Yeah, you are too handsome to get wrinkles yet.”
Rayner kept staring at the horizon with a serious face, but his serious face soon crumbled when he heard that kind of thing. He heard some chuckles coming from behind and when he glared at the crew members, they just turned around and pretended like nothing had happened.
Rayner preferred if he had come alone… Jacques couldn’t come since he was getting even more into hunting vampires as of late. Gerald had no interest in joining battles that were in the middle, so Rayner assumed that he would come alone. Still, much to his surprise, his youngest daughters, the twins Lizzie and Linnet.
Over the years, Rayner let his kids see him working a bunch of times, but since those were in the magic academy, they didn’t have many chances to do so… this was their first chance and while he tried to refuse at first, he eventually gave up when he saw the tears in their eyes.
Speaking of which, Regulus never saw him working either… he imagined that the kid would spend the rest of his days in that mansion since he rarely left, but he never imagined that he would try to fake his death at the age of nine and escape the mansion. He also had no idea how he ended up here, but based on the rumors, it looked like he wasn’t living with the orcs, goblins, and ogres… they looked as confused as the humans when he interfered in the war.
Regardless, a battlefield wasn’t a place that he wanted to bring his daughters to see as fresh as they were from the academy, but it was better than letting them go alone and gain experience while he couldn’t supervise them.
“... I am the commander of this expedition, so for as long as that is true, you two should refer to me as such.”
“Here we go again.”
“You don’t have to get embarrassed, papa.”
Rayner didn’t have siblings. He was the only son of his father and he lost him when he was ten, so he didn’t know much about how kids interacted with their parents, even more so when it comes to girls. He was fairly certain that their mothers had taught those two some unnecessary things in order to get him on his good side. While they didn’t pass certain limits, it also felt too calculating.
“It looks like we finally arrived, papa.”
“I wonder if we will find those two in one piece or in several of them.”
Rayner sighed… fighting armies and giant monsters was easier than dealing with his daughter. They were twins and worked well together, but they still behaved like water and oil.
After squinting his eyes, Rayner was able to see that the port town looked fine… there were some buildings that had been destroyed, but there were no signs of smoke or of recent battles. That was very different from the last report he had heard of.
‘The report said that they were on their last legs after losing sixty percent of their force. Losing thirty percent in less than ten days would already be a disastrous outcome, so they didn’t turn things around using ordinary means.’
Rayner knew very well that the type of people who would sign for this type of job wouldn’t back down that easily and would rather die than return as failures, but he felt like sighing when he considered that his two sons could be like that. Still, his thoughts vanished from his might when he noticed them moving around in the port town together and giving some orders to other knights that were supposed to be a bit older.
“I can see them.”
“I can see them as well… It looks like they are in one piece. I guess this war was too easy for them and they remain as idiots.”
