1.2- Dreams, War, and Politics...Also a Medical Checkup II

"ALL RIGHT!" Kurotsuki jumped from her chair and twirled around. "I think I beat my own record with this fine tune!"

Kurosu sat up and looked at his mother with a look of fear and suspicion. "You didn't try to rush did you? My BioTech is linked directly to my body, remember. If you mess up I die......."

She began to laugh. "I would never do that to my own son! Let alone a patient. I think you've forgotten mama is the Chief Researcher of BioTech Engineering in this dump of an underground secret base they call Istas!" Proud of the title she earned for herself she puffed out her nonexistent bust proudly.

This woman amazes me with how proud she can be, he thought. Nonetheless, he still loved her with all his heart, but he did question should a person like him even be worthy to call a woman such as her his 'mother'. She truly was his mother and he did come from her womb. His only problem was the joy he felt from uttering the word. Joy that he felt wasn't deserved.

"You look like you're in deep thought over there. Something wrong? Hungry? Backache? Oh no! I really did mess up tuning your BioTech, didn't I!?"

"............I'm fine."

Oh......great.....I was worried there." A fox-like grin came across her face. "girl trouble~?"

Kurosu put on the last of his clothes and sighed. "I'm doing quite fine on that front. I actually plan on proposing to her soon."

"Ah, yes young love how it blossoms so beautifully in the time of.....wait." Kurotsuki stopped reciting her poetry. "P-p-pro-propose!!! When the hell did were you able to get the money to even save up for a ring! I only get a measly 1000 Itans a month! I'm the Chief Researcher and yet I get that much! How much do you earn a month, Kuro!? Tell me! Tell me!"

Kurosu rubbed his head and spit out the total. "About, 10,000 Itans a month.........."

"That's not a captain's monthly salary!?  Oh wait, I forgot you're doing a lil' something on the side."

The amount hit Kurotsuki so hard she stumbled, holding herself up on a nearby counter she admitted defeat. "Damn you military personnel.......with your high paying salaries. I don't get paid enough for the work I do!"

"Cheer up now. Remember I promised to clean the up your lab."

"Yaaaaaaaaaaah!" Her mood immediately changed. If there was one thing Kurosu never understood about his mother was her sporadic personality. "Well.......get to it. This is a good time to see how your BioTech functions.

"Your right......" Kurosu breathed in deeply and exhaled. I surround everything.....nothing is out of my reach....my touch is ubiquitous. "BioTech Skill- Telekinesis."

A mechanical voice reverberated inside his head saying. "Owner Recognized. BioTech Skill Confirmed."

His once plain red eyes started to glow an iridescent crimson. With the flick of one hand, all the equipment flew to its proper places. The once scattered papers were lifted into the air and glided to one neat stack. All of the spilled chemicals were collected into one large pool and dumped straight into the sink.

Kurotsuki looked in wonder and amazement. "That was amazing! There was no lag ! Everything was done perfectly and with finesse." Kurotsuki started to jump around. "Yaaah! Thank you!"

"It's the least I can do. I'll be taking my leave now. Hopefully, I'll see you around the base." He bowed and took his leave out the door.

"Bye~! And don't puss out and not propose to Ris'a! She's a nice girl!" She waved both her hands 'goodbye' ecstatically. "Kurosu settled on a girl huh. I wonder when I'll see some grandkids? I feel old enough already, though...." She started walked to her desk and pull out a picture from the drawer. The picture encaptured an old memory the entire Kiru family.......together. On it was a large laughing man with horns' and a young smiling girl with long white hair hanging on to them. "You were so cute and nice to me back then Shiro."

Her cheeks puffed up into a pout when a realization hit her. "Hey! Dad never let me play on his horns like that when I was a kid." She pouted. Her eyes moved over to the four other people in the photo.

She focused on the version of herself with short hair, who smiled brightly at the camera. She held a baby boy with white hair, Kurosu. The third, her husband, Shirosuke, was holding another baby boy with black hair, Kurosu's twin brother, Shirosei. Her husband always said the twins looked just like him when he was a baby.  Even now, Kurosu reminded her of Shirosuke every time she saw him. She wouldn't know about her other son due to circumstance, but it was likely he resemble his father just as much as Kurosu,

She encircled her husband's  face with her finger lovingly. "I wish you were here to see Kurosu now, Shirosuke. You'll be proud of him and the man's he's becoming." Tears started to stream down her face. "Kuro and I are the only one's that can really talk to each other now. Dad's in a coma, Shiro's in AsyLa, Shirosei is probably a damn vagabond for what he did, and you've been gone for years. I miss you so much dear........I miss everyone."

Kurotsuki hugged the photo close to her as memories of days long past flooded into her mind. She always dreamed of having a family and she did have one for a time. A family who lived under the same roof, who got along with each other, and stayed together. That was never a luxury long lost to her family.

Her happy go lucky demeanor was just a mask hiding her true feeling. Inside she was a broken mother, wife, and daughter. Whatever role she would have played in her family was all but crushed by circumstance and fate. Circumstances that created her mess of a 'family' and fate that would choose her children to be used as tools. "I want  my innocent kids back.....I want my husband back...I want papa back." She slammed her hand Why us......why them.....why me......" Kurotsuki laid her tired head on her desk and slowly cried herself into a deep slumber.

Kurosu continued to walk down the steel hallways, again. He began to scratch his head as if he were puzzled, and he really was puzzled. "Where am I?" He said to himself. He began his endless walk on trying to find his way around the convoluted underground base of Istas.

A brother and sister in the same predicament as Kurosu spotted his white hair around the corner. "Was that Kurosu just then Ris'a?" One of them, the brother, asked.

She hammered him on top of his head and yelled at him. "Of course! Who else has white hair like that! C'mon Dykel!" Risa grabbed his wrist headed towards Kurosu.

The sound of Ris'a's and Dykel's pounding footsteps flooded into Kurosu's ears. "What....in the world is there?" He commented.

Two blonds raced towards him although the man looked more like he was being dragged like a rag doll more than running behind her. "Kuro~! We found you." She let go of her brother's hand and he spun out control landing on his face. She jumped in the air with open arms grabbing onto Kurosu's body causing the two to fall down.

Kurosu fell down along with the girl. "You know........a simple hug would do."

Ris'a nuzzled her check against his face as if she was a dog. "We haven't seen each other since morning though."

Kurosu dusted himself off of the dirt and held out his hand. "C'mon, Risa, take my hand."

"Ooooo. Such a gentlemen." She swooned.

"Whatever you say." He looked over at the man who laid lifelessly on the floor. "Ris'a. Is your brother alright he seems....dead."

"Imunatdwed." The man's muffled voice escaped into the air.

"Get up already!" Ris'a ordered.

Dykel slowly rose from the dead like a zombie. "I'm not dead! And that's no way to talk to your 'older' brother, and can I point out the fact that I'm older than you!"

"I don't give a rat's ass if you are older! You're still a good-for-nothing brother!"

"What did you just say!" Dykel rushed up to his impertinent little sister and pointed his finger dead in her face. "I should have ditched you when we first came to Istas, but this 'good-for-nothing' found it in his heart to stick with you!"

She started to snicker devilishly. "I choose to stick with you, dimwit. You would've looked like a lost puppy if I didn't." Ris'a clung to Kurosu's arm. "Besides I could of always went with Kuro!" She stuck her tongue out.

Dykel stood in defeat of his enemy, Ris'a. His status of 'Big Brother' was now 'Good-for-nothing'. As he descended into depression, there stood Kurosu to bring him back. "Dykel you are a useful and loyal ally. There is no one else I would rather have my back than you. You're like the brother I never had, and in my eyes you are good......for something."

Tears started to roll off his face onto the floor. "Thank you, Kurosu. I love you man! I love you!" Dykel brought Kurosu into a brotherly embrace.

"Let all the suffering you've endured from your wicked sister out." He encouraged. "Go on, let it all out."

"HAAAA! GAAAAAAAAY!"

Ris'a stood in awe at the sight before her. "I'm the one who's supposed to be embraced by ,Kuro, not you. Why are guys always this emotional?"

"You be quiet! I need this more than you damn it!" Dykel shouted . He continued to sob, ignoring Ris'a altogether.

"Excuse me, Captain Kiru." A timid female voice said, breaking the atmosphere of the moment. Everyone looked at the owner's voice. A brown skinned and comely well-endowed young woman with black framed glasses that somehow complemented her timid disposition. Her hazy lavender eyes went well with her long hair of the same color as well. Her name was Mukora Mwangaza and her skin was a tell-tale sign of her race, the Ngozi. They were a proud race of tribal warriors until the recent Ngozi Genocides. Now they were slaves, indentured soldiers, former shadows of their previous selves.

Kurosu turned to greet the girl. "Ah, Muko, good to see you after the drop off." He bowed graciously.

"Y-you too, sir! The District Meeting sir, and also be your bodyguard as per your request!" She shouted nervously.

Kurosu rubbed his head and sighed. "I almost forgot that was the reason we're here in the first place. Well, lead on, Muko."

The two bid the siblings farewell before Kurosu left Ris'a with a few vague words. "Oh! Ris'a I'll have to talk to you about something when I come back so please make some time. And that's an order." He smiled and winked at her.
