In a world where to write and read is a magic that can change the world, where any writer or reader can put their mark and influence upon reality, a massive war decades in the past has resulted in a small cluster of cities becoming cut off from the rest of the world, and becoming as far as they know the last vestiges of humanity, surrounded on all sides by monster-infested badlands. Ruled over by the scholars of the spire, the grandest library ever built, the cities struggle to survive in a harsh and possibly soon to end world.  But something is coming that will change this world forever.
