One of those guards is Heather Hall, a loyal and determined woman who has been working for the prison since she was 21. To her, she has a good life, despite her family’s struggles. That is until she meets her match: Christian Pollock, a vampire who survived the war, and decades later finds himself on the other side of the glass at Heather’s prison. Both of them have fundamentally different ideas of the world, Heather’s fueled by propaganda and loyalty and Christian’s by cynicism and emotion. But when Heather discovers a horrifying secret about her compound, the unlikely pair must team up. Despite the mayhem of the Outskirts and her growing connection with the vampire shaking her worldview, Heather is determined to save her people, whatever it takes. Even if it means discovering secrets about herself and family that will change her entire world.—I’ve been working on this project on and off for a number of years and finally decided to complete it. Expect long chapters, magic, characters expressing themselves through crazy chunks of dialogue, and a surprising amount of cyberpunk for what is at its core a supernatural romance.
