A former Vietnam soldier returns home from war to his old home of Neoami and finds it riddled with drugs, crime, and corruption. As a way to help his struggling family and maybe himself, he becomes involved in the criminal underworld alongside a new friend and the deeper he goes the harder it is to escape.
