As the local coroner, Edwina Sharp had always been the one to tell the stories of the dead. When the dead rise on her table their story becomes a living nightmare. Everything she holds dear slips through her fingers, forcing Edwina to make a choice that will change her life forever. In the wake of this nightmare Edwina discovers the prophets—ancient creatures that bestow incredible powers on chosen humans, known as threadbearers.
