Chapter 5: Recovery

Chapter 5: Recovery

In the arena, everyone was mumbling about what happened. Almost everyone was shocked.

"Jackson was usually a nice person, no matter how arrogant he got. I can't believe he would do something like this." One said. Some of Jacksons diehard fans even outright denied that Jackson did this, and it was all a ruse by Argan.

Elder Inmah stood there in the booth, with no expression. Soon a smirk crept upon his face, as he left towards where Elder Baine did.

----------------------------------------

Elder Baine was carrying Argan, as Argan kept groaning in pain. Elder Baine was running at his fastest speed towards the infirmary. After a few seconds, the duo reached the building and Elder Baine entered.

"Nurse! Hurry and come help this child!" He yelled. As soon as he did, a woman in white robes ran out from a room. She recognized both Elder Baine and Argan.

"Right away, Elder." She said, as she grabbed Argan and brought him into a room. Inside this room was a Medium sized bed, just enough for two people. She laid Argan down Argan was gripping tightly onto the sheets of the bed, wincing in pain, trying his hardest not to scream. Soon, the nurse put her hand over his head, and he fell unconscious.

As he fell asleep, she took a look at his injuries. As soon as she saw, she furrowed her brows. Elder Bained entered the room.

"He was slashed across the eyes by a sword." He explained. "Is there any way to heal him?"

"We can heal this with ease, but since it is so close to the eyes, we don't know if there will be any damage to them. We will only know the result in a few days." The nurse replied.

Elder Baine looked down solemnly. "Do what you can." He said. "Oh, and don't forget, he is the grandson if 'him.' Keep that in mind." Elder Baine said as he left the building. The nurse took another look at Argan, this time with some worry, as she started to work on healing him.

A few days passed, and Argan was still sleeping. The nurse was checking his pulse, to see if there any problems. Seeing that there were none, she sighed in relief. His injuries were completely gone, and he seemed perfectly fine. A few minutes later, and he woke up.

----------------------------------------

Argan woke up, feeling no more pain. He tried opening his eyes but to no avail. He saw only darkness.

"Ah! Argan you're finally awake. Thank goodness." The nurse said.

"How did you know I was awake if my eyelids never opened?" Argan asked, confused.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The nurse sat there, a look of worry. "Are...are you saying you can not see?" She asked, with a deeply worried tone.

"Well, obviously. My eyelids are closed and I can not open them. Can you explain whats going on?" He asked again.

"Argan...I think...you may be blind." She said, hesitatingly. "Your eyelids are clearly open, yet you can not see. This must be blindness."

"..." Argan sat there, not saying anything. Soon, a rush of anger overtook him. He remembers what happened the few days prior. "Jackson!" He yelled as he clenched his fist. 'Had it not been for him, I wouldn't be blind,' he thought.

"Do not worry. There is a chance that this could be temporary." The nurse said. But both her and Argan knew a wound that serious wouldn't cause only temporary blindness.

To cultivators being blind pretty much meant there was no point to cultivating. If you were blind, then you couldn't see the opponents attacks. Although there will still be sound, once you reach the higher realms all movements become either too fast for too silent for someone blind to be able to defend against.

As Argan sat there quietly, the nurse walked out of the room. She walked into another room full of drawers and letters. This was the mail room, where they could send letters and such to other members of the claim. She sat down at a table and wrote down Argans condition. She then rolled the letter up and tied it to a birds leg. This was a special type of bird, called the Unladen Swallow, one that could travel miles in a few minutes. It was the fastest way to communicate with someone here.

"Take this to Elder Baine." The nurse said to the bird. It understood her perfectly and flashed out of the window.

----------------------------------------

Elder Baine was sitting at a large table, with a few other Elders. This was the council, where they deal with the problems the clan is currently having. Currently, there were seven members in the council, with Elder Baine being the Head Elder in this council.  Elder Inmah and Elder Jin were apart of this council, both the fourth and second members respectively. Usually, the meetings are held once every month, but since Argan was seriously hurt the meeting was pushed forward to today.

"I think he should be rid of all consequences. It was obvious that trash's fault for trying to fight him! He got his just desserts!" One elder said. It was a large, burly man, with a thick beard. He looked to be in his middle age years. His name was Elder Bram and was fighting for Jackson's release. He was the 5th member of the council.

"And ignore the clan rules?! Wouldn't that be the biggest humiliation for our clan?! What if this news spreads out?! What happens then?!" Another Elder said. This time it was an elderly man, nearing his 70s. He had a hunched back, and a long white beard. This was Elder Khan, the oldest of the elders, and was one of the more respected members. He was the third member of the council.

"Alright, Alright. We just need to wait for news on Argans Condition from the nurses. Then, we will dish out the correct punishment." Elder Baine said. After a few seconds, there was a knock on the door.

"Enter." Elder Baine said, and a young servant entered.

"News from the Medical House has come about Argan Grays condition, esteemed elders," The servant said, and handed the letter to Elder Baine. who was closest to the door. He opened the letter, and read it aloud.

"His condition is very bad. The wound was healed and there are no scars to be found. There is also no case of internal bleeding. He seems to be perfectly fine." Elder Baine read but was interrupted by Elder Bram.

"How is this bad? He seems to be perfect! There's no need to worry!" Bram said.

"There's more." Baine retorted. "Although there's no internal bleeding or any scars, he..." Baine said with a sullen face. "He's gone blind..."
