Welcome to Imbrium, land of the five herds, where vast bands of equines thrive on the ruins of the previous civilization. Here, each horse is shaped by their environment, by desert, mountain, glade, and grassland. Sabba is born far from his band, in a cold month when predators are at their most confident. After tragedy separates the colt from his mother, he must learn quickly to survive the harsh weather, the shadows which circle overhead, and the death that slithers through dry grass.  Alone and untested, the Wind Singer must find his strength, and his voice, if he ever means to reunite with his band. And if he means to dwell among the fierce, hardy horses who rule the plains, Sabba had better  grow up quickly.
