6 - Life in Seven Fall Academy Part 3

6 - Life in Seven Fall Academy Part 3

Upon awakening Lunetta discovered herself back in front of the comfy woman statue, or rather the moon goddess that had blessed her. Getting priorities straight, a visit to the principle was first on the to-do list. A brisk walk took her out of the temple and into the world once more, separating the divine and mortals. The statue of Timmith seemed to almost glow, basking in her upcoming suffering. She almost laughed, why would a god care for the pains of a mortal?

***

Principle Lhymen was getting quite anxious. His student, Angus, had spent quite a while inside the hall of gods, even going as far as to disappear. He really hoped that the poor boy didn't end up with some strange calamity. A sigh escaped his lips and he began playing on a reed flute, it helped calm the soul. He had recently managed to get his Sword Affinity to the Greater stage, his star affinity sitting decently at the normal stage.

His skills helped to combine his affinities, and due to the way he specialized, allows for a destructive power to from when he swung his sword, after he had realized he could combine his stances, he had almost reveled in the power, he had mostly spent his stat points on Intelligence and Agility. It's quite a useful endeavor since everything scaled off of them, and after he had discovered the ability to use sword attacks within sword attacks, he felt comfortable fighting enemies a grade above him, even going as far as to boast killing enemies a peak grade above him.

He looked at the destroyed training dummy and sighed, he couldn't really practice anymore unless he wanted to become a geological transformer, he had even gone as far as to help farmers level mountains in order to at least get some practice in, he was itching for a fight or a battle even. The seer was too much of a coward to face him. Admittedly he let her live in order to give himself some kind of challenge, but the little bitch never even dared to send someone close to his territories anymore.

He was going to kill her eventually, karma needs to be tied up and he honestly got bored of waiting. She didn't even really grow, so what was the point of waiting for it? Besides, he felt quite guilty for the people dying, he didn't know that she was going to summon those stinky mages. Or warlocks. Whatever.

***

Lunetta had managed to climb the steps a whole lot easier than previous times, lighter body, same stats? A bit of a cheat, at least for the time being made things quite better. A hop, climb and a jump there and she finally managed to get to her room where she saw Lhymen staring out at the distance, reed pipe in hand, sword on the back.

"Are you lost? The quarters for minor disciple and below can be found on the second floor darling." Lhymen spoke quite cheerfully.

Sighing, Lunetta told Lhymen the story of her going into the hall of gods. It required a bit of finesse to keep him interested long enough to hear her plight. After a bit Lhymen burst out laughing, even giving her a few claps on the shoulder.

"Good one, but you won't trick me that easily." He spoke seriously.

"What would I gain from tricking you? A slightly better room? We can wait for "Angus'" return then." She spoke ready to wait.

"I know you aren't him, because he would've done something stupid at some point." He said.

"Like calling a god a weasel?" She spoke.

"For fucks sakes, that's enough." He laughed.

It didn't take that much to convince him. They waited for a bit though, Lunetta not looking stressed whatsoever, even when he sent a few students to look around for "Angus".

"Have you awakened yet?" He asked.

She nodded.

"Show me your talentry, we can just confirm with the names." He nodded a bit irritated.

"About that, a moon goddess changed my name, twice." She spoke telling the whole truth, but still showing her talentry.

"Interesting, you'll note that once you get a class it'll change up a bit, so keep an eye out. It becomes much more stale the stronger you get." He spoke, already feeling his words affecting her. It was quite a pleasant feeling, if someone doesn't really know about classes, just level shows since what would a person need to know about what they do? It's kind of like a tiny bit stronger mortal.

Frowning he spoke again, "You need to make sure not to share your sheet with anyone else, it will likely lead to them either wanting to procreate with you, or wanting to kill you." He didn't mention why, but she could guess somewhat.

He noted the power from the bloodline being DS, what that stand for, he didn't know. The highest he had ever heard of was a E Grade which was already considered powerful. What Lhymen didn't know was that because of his large amount of research into the sword and combining the Seven Fall Stances, he has entered the E Grade stage of power.

"Hold on to that stat point, until you can get 4 and invest it into a mastery of some kind, you just need that head start otherwise you'll start to stagnate, I'll let your goddess handle your classes, just come back to me so we can talk about professions, unless you can get one from her as well.." Lhymen was starting to feel inferior, he sighed. How could he compare to a goddess? He just hoped that she wasn't getting manipulated.

Seeing her apprehension. He would jump when he could, one upping a goddess would be quite an impressive event, unless he died because of it.

'Oh right', he snapped his fingers. He can teach her combat, and fighting. A goddess can do a lot, but the help is quite indirect, so that gave him some help.

Lunetta was already back in her room, she found her comfy bed and laid on it. Although he liked the advice of the principle usually, she had other plans on how she would do her talentry. Right now she needed stats, she could look into getting a talent at level 10 or something. She doesn't have much information on how leveling actually works in terms of classes, to this point it was mostly done referring to racial levels. She tossed the point into intelligence so she could make better choices in the future.

She didn't notice much of a difference though. There was also another feeling she embraced.

Class Options

Warrior[Common] 1 Talent Point every 10 Levels, 3 All Stats per Level, 1 Unspent Stat Point

A common Warrior, slice things and walk the path of weapons and honor.

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

Seems weak.

Moon Slammer[Uncommon] 1 Talent Point Every 10 Levels, 10 Stats in Intelligence per level, 7 Unspent Stat Points

Conjure moons with your affinity before slamming them down into enemies.

Magic is nice and all, but she was going for a kind of swordsman class.

Falling Star Swordsman[Uncommon] 1 Talent Point Every 10 Levels, 10 Stats in Agility per level, 7 Unspent Stat Points

Attack enemies with the power of falling stars.

And that was all she had to choose from.

"Go with Warrior you won't regret it, foundation is important." A voice appeared in her head. That settled it, she was going to slam people with moons now.

Picking it caused her to feel quite a bit more powerful.

"The only reason you got Moon Slammer in the first place, was because upgrading your moon affinity gave you some history with it haha" The voice started laughing, she recognized it as her friend.

With that done with she saw her skills come up. She noted a hint of sadness in the eyes of the principle "They grow up so fast" He spoke.

Skills Earned.

Strike[Common]

A signature Warrior Attack (Requires Weapon) has minor scaling with strength. Low Stamina Cost.

Eyes of the Warrior[Common]

Enemies, no matter where they are can be felt. You don't know where they are, but you always know if you are being watched by an enemy.

Optional Skills:

Throw[Common]

Throw any object with a tiny bit of proficiency has minor, scaling with 10% of your Strength. Low Stamina Cost

Hilt Strike[Common]

Retaliatory attack that can be executed after successfully parrying an attack, or at any over extension. Has 15% Strength Scaling.Low Stamina Cost.

Parry[Common]

Counter an enemy's strike with the flat bit of your blade. Makes parrying more likely to happen, easier to force, and makes it more effective. Has 10% Scaling with Agility.

She picked Hilt Strike, it was the one most fitting for what she planned on doing, parry would be useful yes, but at these levels anyone with hilt strike would get screwed by someone that has parry, vice versa, depending on how many mistakes are made. Hilt Strike just makes fuckups worse for enemies.

Skills:

Strike[Common](Low Stamina) - Melee attack with a weapon. The signature skill of a warrior.

10% Strength Scaling

Eyes of the Warrior[Common] - Know when you are watched by an enemy warrior.

Hilt Strike[Common](low Stamina) - Punish the mistakes of enemies. Retaliatory attack.

15% Strength Scaling for the hit.

She didn't feel smarter, but having those extra resources would definitely come in handy. She guessed that intelligence also worked for mana regeneration, everything else would likely only be guessed. The principle was quite down at the moment, so she didn't really want to bug him, but before going he had handed her a little sheet.

----------------------------------------

Gnoll Trappers

Hero needed, Gnoll trappers are capturing and torturing elves around the main roads.

Anyone that manages to bring the head of the captain of these trappers will be rearded

Reward: 10 Silver.

----------------------------------------

Somewhat decent pay, 10 Silver is quite nice, enough to buy a little home and feed a person for around 2 years or so. So nice pocket change. With this notice she headed down to the armory to fetch a nice sharp sword. Sadly the person there took no shit, and would need to be paid back with 1 Silver. Still quite worth it.

With a basic weapon on her belt, she left the academy. She had no idea what she wanted to do for a profession, tailoring sounded interesting. Most of them are the same, but she had a feeling that if she stuck with her divine buddy that she would reap the benefits at one point or another.

Going east away from the academy on the main road, she walked until she saw the fabled spot. The gnolls weren't exactly smart, but they were sneaky. She saw one of their snouts poking out from the treeline on the right. Readying her sword she walked over silently to where it was just peeking over. She heard the bored breathing of the gnoll.

Using [Strike] her sword fell down, removing the nose of the poor creature. A loud wheezing turned to yelping and confusion. She heard the footsteps of the other gnolls approaching. Readying herself behind the tree, she stood as still as physically possible.

She noticed that she leveled Stealth while doing so.

[Stealth] has reached level 1, may you cower in shadows. Such a shitty description, she wasn't afraid. 5 minutes have passed since the Gnoll's face was chopped, a few gnolls have since appeared.

Her Stamina was also full up. It recharged quite quickly. The Gnolls don't really learn that well. Another nose fell, yelping and terror being spread. Isn't it bad enough that they take damage? Limbs, or rather a snout is quite valuable to a poor Gnoll. One of them came running out pointing his crossbow wildly. He still had his snout. Her Stamina held enough for another Strike, or two, depending on how long she waited.

Getting bored she tried to infuse her Affinities with her mana, when that didn't work, she tried moving it around a bit. In her body, this was quite easy, but not matter how much she strained, moving mana outside herself was just impossible.

After fucking around for a bit, another Gnoll stuck his nose out near her, she decided to let this one live to scramble their radar a bit. After a while the Gnolls retreated, but were still weary. Just as one was about to enter a bush, a blade came down with [Strike] and carved off his snout. She had climbed the tree a bit, it was a rather easy to climb tree, and used it to strike with opportunity. With the animal still in shock, she used [Strike] again with the intent to make it bleed. It wasn't very successful, but the beast was in a world of pain. Then she felt it. [Eyes of the Warrior] triggered and she jumped off. No use in hiding anymore. She swung her blade using [Strike] for the third and last time, instead of wasting Stamina, she just slashed at it and ended it's poor life.

She instinctively identified it. [Gnoll Trapper Level 1]. She slashed it once and down it went. Strike didn't seem to do a lot for her, but it's a good amplifier nonetheless.

You have been awarded experience for killing Gnoll Trapper [Level 1].

She felt different, again, stronger even. Had a single kill leveled her up? A quick check.

It felt quite good, but now these Gnolls are feeling like a waste of time. She looked around for the big Gnoll, probably the alpha, the only thing that caught her eye was a rapidly approaching form of a humanoid with two heads.

Ogre, well fuck this. She quickly used identify on it. [Blasting Damned Ogre Level 25].

Turning a full 180 degrees she ran at full speed. Her new Stamina was draining quite fast. She placed the point into agility, allowing her to run a bit faster, also noting that it slightly increased her stamina, her sprinting did not stop when she reached the gate of her new school. It wasn't very far, but she still wanted some more security.

Sometimes an enemy was simply too difficult to take down, this was one of those cases. She went back to her room and resumed practicing with mana. She handed in the quest to the principle explaining the situation, he gave her the full reward. "It's simply pocket change" He explained.

She still happily took it. She then went to her room and tried to screw around more with her mana. First thing she tried was pushing more Stamina into Strike. This was difficult, and it only had a slight effect, but it worked. Then she tried pushing health and stamina into it. The sword physically began to shake, it's weight increasing before it broke apart.

You have upgraded Strike. Strike[Common] -> Reinforced Strike[Uncommon]

Reinforced Strike[Uncommon]: Strike enemies with your whole being. Has 30% Strength Scaling. Low Stamina and Low Health cost

She felt like she could still use the normal version of strike, just that it would be very inferior. With all this practice out of the way, she turned to sleep on her bed once more, hoping to get more challenges in the morning.
