27 - Settlement

27 - Settlement

A new dawn arrived with the sun peeking through the hilltops. It was in the middle of the forest where they had decided to build the settlement. It was a rather serene and beautiful place with the sun and moon rising a little while later at least in their perceptions. Lunetta was currently focusing on getting more used to her abilities that she had accumulated and the scribes were scribbling away.

The mages however were reduced to builders. They were carrying thick logs of wood on their backs, she had asked them earlier if they could use magic to construct housing, but apparently magic wore off after around twenty years, albeit in a slow decay fashion. That's around the time frame for normal houses, she expected them to know this since they were the architects, albeit shitty ones.

"Copper head on that way. No, you can't use water to make the earth tender magic messes with the environment didn't ya know?" The elder mage kept screaming at one of his apprentices. Lunetta had at first thought that magic lasts for as long as solid objects. But her belief was starting to weaken a bit.

After a few hours had passed Lunetta felt quite a bit more comfortable with her style of fighting. At the moment she was raining down slashes on one of the mages that had volunteered to spar with her. He wasn't very good at using a sword and soon faltered against her ruthless onslaught.

"I yield, please no more. Ah!" A scream enveloped the camp, Lunetta had accidentally let her sword slip and had cut the man's clothes and shirt open, a thin line of blood and moonlight appeared. Deciding that it was probably best not to harm him further put herself at ease and helped him up.

After stammering apologies the man got up and ran, a blush had also appeared on her face. She immediately rushed to go apologize and decided to just include a tip on the training instructor to not make it too hard on him in the future. She didn't want to embarrass him more.

Then something startled her so much that she fell onto the ground back first.

[Establish Base?]

After sorting out her feelings she agreed to it.

[Base Name]: Settlement

[Ruling Style]: [PRIMITIVE] Queen Lunetta

[Advisors]: Elder Mage Voluk, Apprentice Copper

[World Announcement: The Kingdom "Settlement" has been established]

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"Did the world really need to know we exist?" Lunetta wondered out loud. "Yes they do." Voluk wondered up to her and gave her a soft pat on the shoulder. "We're going places and this is where we start it seems."

Lunetta pondered on that thought for a while, then decided to just accept it. there wasn't anything she could do to change the world at least not yet, and their location had been kept secret. So they weren't in any immediate danger. Monsters however might still prowl on the fringes of their territory so they still had to be careful.

Lunetta then set off in the woods to look for anyone that's close to their territory, this probably should've been done first, but she had wanted to get the base set up, and if she had encroached on someone's territory, they can make some concessions.

Walking through the dark woods at this time was quite an atmospheric experience with little birds chirping and lots of movement. Mosquitos too, too many mosquitos. She hit one that had just bitten her neck leaving a small dot of grey and red blood. "Fuck mosquitos." She says out loud.

It took a bit, maybe around an hour before she found a little cave. She then saw a giant snake head peek through, then another and another. And one more, then another. It's a bloody hydra. She casually noted this before checking it's level.

[Dramatic Hydra ???]

Times like these were when she thought that it wasn't a great idea to have let Seyvlia her patron and moon goddess take her rabbit and scorpion, but it was for the best. You can't stand on your own feet if a dragon or in this case a rabbit carries you to victory. With grim determination she pulled up her sheet.

This is not going to work, in no fucking way is she beating this bastard unless she has a lucky break, but she didn't like relying on that. With a shrug she threw all her free points into strength. She then bravely looked at the "dramatic" hydra that was playing coy with her and...

She ran like hell. No way was she fighting something so powerful. After returning to her settlement she told Voluk about the hydra, he at first looked at her in disbelief then he got everyone ready for a potential attack, which luckily didn't happen.

On a better note she had finally got her strength up, two points isn't that much, but it's two points higher than it was.

[Creation of the first Kingdom will allow for the World Council to begin. Lunetta of Fenrir will be the Leader in this.]

"It seems that the council will be quite interesting, I wonder if we'll ever use it or have a meeting." Lunetta thinks. "Maybe next year, no, do not schedule a meeting for next year."
