17 - Stage 4

***

This was the final test, yet it was also the hardest. The little furry creature knew this, it also had the best reward. The reward was so good even he was feeling tempted by it, it was quite honestly better than any mythic item or that shit. The creature had watched curiously as the mortal entered it's domain and it just threw them into it's realm, a kind of mental magic of sorts.

Now she was just laying there in sleep, but he knew he had created a nightmare for her. This was his and he will not ever give it up. So what if he turned up the difficulty a bit? He had personal interest in it and it wasn't just for the axis. It was to find an ally of sorts as well, but none of that mattered if she pissed herself. He will not except a coward, no. The reward was just too precious.

Therefore he chew on a little sweet, sugar candy, and waited. Every move of hers was watched, he could practically feel the fear from her. At this point he could practically say she failed, but he wanted to test her a bit more, on the off chance she was actually good enough there was something in it for him as well. He made the vasts fields of desert shift, made critters appear and hide. Insectoids that would inspire fear, he had felt something resonate deep inside her when she had entered at first.

'A bloodline is quite decent, five extra points.' The monster thought, it had a higherish pitched internal voice. It lazily stood up and stretched, all the while adding more enemies to the already clustered desert. Crows cawed above, and even some snakes appeared. He then threw in a great beast, a woolly mammoth type that was just a bit larger than a normal one.

Great beasts aren't that different from normal ones besides the fuck ton of stats. Ah, where was his manners? A curse dropped on her making her tired and feel pain deeper, some worms reached out of the ground and jumped into her clothes. The point was to throw every single fear a person had at them, but the little monster couldn't read minds.

So, he had to adapt. See what his prey fears and make that the focal point and make everything else blend in. It's a kind of complicated technique, if you gave someone a comforting image or something similar it would work against you, if you were trying to break their mind, and you can't just remove it otherwise they notice and you're spotted.

So you blend it, make what comforts your enemy appear frightened or not do anything and just sit in the background, some perspective shifts and visual changes later and they don't feel comforted at all anymore, and it'll likely even help you. This is what he was doing, the moment he saw those scorpions having the least reaction, he acted.

He started by making them more blurry, and had some sand blow on them, some skittered into the ground where other insectoids appeared. She was already panicking, perfect. Sand started to weave in between the scorpions and insects, moving them around. Some burrowed into the ground and didn't move again, a lot of the scorpions stopped.

Blended, and out of mind he was starting to see the fear on her. The great beast didn't do fuck all so he had it simply approach, but slow enough to not ruin the whole thing. Sometimes everything was balanced perfectly, but teetering on the edge of ruin, this is where time came in. When would the great beast be close enough, would it scare her or would she ignore it?

Should he use it to attack? That was almost the only option, making it run away would do the opposite of what he wanted. Ah, then he thought of it. The beast stopped abruptly, roaring at the other creatures, chaos erupted. Sometimes you can convert a hopeless scenario into a salvageable one. The scorpions were already forgotten by her.

Then he felt something else, rage. It's quite common for some people to respond to fear with rage. But he just relaxed and kept moving the pieces. Fear becomes rage, rage becomes despair. When the enemy is at the peak of despair you can move in to attack their soul. If they survive you can easily beat them physically, because they would be weakened to a miserable state.

The shifting sands made her anxious. The scorpions were also seemingly making traps around her, or they were doing something the worms in her clothes made her feel rage because she couldn't get the fuckers out some were crawling to places she didn't want worms to go, which was making her anxious. A large creature had appeared before her, she didn't know of it's origins, but when it stopped and roared it was hell.

Many creatures starting fighting each other, the insectoids rushed over and soon she was in the middle of large insects fighting, some spilled their guts on her, some were green and some were white. It was disgusting but it didn't really make her scared, she was more terrified that more worms would jump out of the ground, that changed when the hairy bodies of some insects rubbed against her.

A chill ran down her spine and she shivered, this started happening more often where she kept getting grazed by the insects, soon a wasp stinger hit her ear. 'That fucking hurt.' She was starting to get pissed off because she didn't really have a way of fighting back. She had tried fighting back mentally only to be laughed at by some small critter. It had called her an imbecile.

Then the struggle amplified when the beast learned about things that she had some sort of fear against. Of course the grass hoppers would rub against her and some would bite while staring into her eyes with their own beady eyes. This wasn't what she had thought a test of courage would be, but she also felt determined to end this.

She reached down for the comfort of her- and the fucker took her sword as well. She could see an insect with a particularly big butt rushing out with her sword in it's maw. She ran after it, trying to bob and weave between the insects. The worms had found their target, but she refused to think of that now. She eventually found the fucker, it was standing above a cliff with darkness on the other side.

Mockingly it dropped her sword into the abyss. That settled it. She tackled the insect and managed to forcefully push it into the abyss. Then it opened it's paper thin disgusting wings. It whacked her with it's but shooting her away, back into the warzone, a few scorpions got up from where she laid, pinching and stinging her. Then she felt tired.

She felt a tiredness for living pop up inside her, but she dismissed that quite easily. She reached down and petted a scorpion who then stung her, but she kept petting it. She accepted that she had fears, and to at least not make them debilitating, so she got up and started fighting the things with her hands. And when they broke, she used her bones.

She felt like she passed some kind of test, finally. two worms had managed to crawl up her ass and vagina. It was incredibly gross and uncomfortable. She had to stop herself at one point from disemboweling herself with her bare hands.

Her eyes slowly opened.

The human had exceeded his expectations. She was quite ferocious when she wanted to be. Especially when he had toyed with her with the big butted insect. Her source of fears stemmed from lack of control, and from strange things she didn't know, especially certain textures. But he was pleased to see that she would fight back if the situation called for it, or if she lost something important.

That last bit was especially important, he didn't want his reward to end up in the wrong hands. So she needed both the physical and mental capabilities to handle it. He gave her 95 Points out of a 100, the 5 points were lost because he felt like being an ass, besides you can't be perfect. He hopped off his chair and stood before her in his majestic glory.

She opened her eyes and saw a black furred rabbit sitting in front of her. "You have passed the test, 95/100 Points, good job." He said quite happily.

"Now where's my reward you fuck?" She asked.

The rabbit stopped for a moment and thought. He had seen her enter the dungeon at the first stage, but he had kept his cover. He was very curious.

"You get none, you fuck" He replied mentally, still nibbling on sweets.

She reached over and grabbed him. He let this happen since she was the challenger, he had the reward on him so if she damaged it who cares? Actually, he did care quite a fucking lot.

He looked up at her with innocent eyes. "I am the reward."

She looked at him confused then used identify.

[Illusionary Great Rabbit Level ???]

"Alright I'll take you in." She said, something had established itself between them. She felt like she knew where he was.

"Bond initiated." He spoke proudly, and hopped from her hands into her bra, the leather vest adjusted accordingly, not wrinkling up anywhere. It was quite comfortable, for both of them, but favored the rabbit.

'She's fucking stacked.' the rabbit thought, then almost pawed itself in the face. It's strange to find attraction to beings of another species, but he assumed she was attractive to others of her species as well so he gave himself some slack and snuggled himself in between her boobs.

After the initial discomfort they got used to each other, it was quite a soft creature so it wasn't like she was carrying around a weapon, okay maybe the rabbit is a bit like one, but he's a warm snugly thing, she hugged him a bit with both her arms before simply turning around and leaving. He was the reward after all.

Outside she got an alert.
