Synopsis
After centuries of peace, the independent City-State of Brunswick is threatened by impending war. Lieutenant Adams, a high-school teacher turned leader, must adapt to the modern nature of warfare and ready himself to command his men in a battle unlike any his people have ever seen. Will the valor and ingenuity of Adams and coalition forces be enough to beat back foreign aggression or will the decades of peace prove too detrimental to overcome?
Hubris Toll is a speculative short-story on the nature of peace and war as diametric necessities in humanity's distant future. It explores adult themes of extreme violence, death and psychological trauma from the perspective of a military serviceman.
