A former denizen of Earth wakes up in a new world as a rock, with limited memories of who and what they used to be, placed without consent onto a path that leads to godhood- or to oblivion. They face powers greater than any they've ever known on Earth, while trying- and sometimes failing- to come to terms with everything they have lost. Will they manage to find a way back home to Earth? Will they make peace with their new home, and gain power and respect? Or will they succumb to their inadvertent feud with the god of Death, to bad luck, or to despair? This story gently covers some potentially sensitive issues including implied infertility, stillbirth and suicide. There is swearing, but this tends towards Shakespearean eloquence. The main protagonist favours compassion over violence, but becomes capable of killing with only a thought. An irregular posting schedule, roughly once every other day with pauses for building work on the house.
