Synopsis
Roma Farland, only daughter of the Farland Duchy, will do anything to keep her best friend Princess Carreia from marrying the wrong man. The decline of the nobility's power has brought with it the decline of their virtue, leaving only the greedy, lazy, and vain, but still the Princess must wed. Rather than let her go with the scum at the top, Roma will knock them all down, whether by bat or club or pen, in the hopes that King Ramos will upend law and tradition to let her choose her own fate.
But when she meets Alister Lenz, the celebrated boxer/singer/inventor and possibly the most recognized man in the nation of Batavion, Roma's life gets flipped on its head. Arrogant, rude, and selfish, Alister should be everything she hates, but unlike the noblemen, he has the ability and mind to back it all up, exactly what Carreia wants in a man. So Roma hatches a plan: worm her way into his life, hammer out his imperfections, and after batting down all of the lukewarm lords, present him to the Princess, and if they hit it off, surely the King will let them marry. A nearly impossible undertaking, and one that doesn't consider her own blossoming feelings, but that has never stopped Roma Farland. If she has to flip a thousand heads in a row, she'll grab a coin and flip until her hand can't move.
Yet, a flipped coin may end up frozen in the air, in the hand of an invisible devil.
