Richard Lyons is not too long for retirement when a strange series of events occur. First, their wellness check in ended up with a new recruit, somehow. Then, the new recruit has...odd tendencies, like asking what coffee is for, and why Richard eats his meat cooked. Then things in the town start happening. Camera crews start rolling in, claiming that people have spotted a shapeshifter in town. Absolutely hogwash, it was. He'd lived here for his entire life and never heard of such a thing. So now he has to deal with the media and amateur sleuths trying to overturn every pebble they could get their hands on to find answers to a question no one's asked. And the cherry on top? He's started to have...feelings for the new recruit. Obviously this is far more unnerving than any other thing that has happened, up to and including the time they had a serial killer in town. What was an old officer like him to do??
