Rick Reyes, a nanocloud-enhanced being with peak physical fitness and superior mental and physical abilities, lives in a post-apocalyptic world where other similar people survive, trying to eke out an existence where over 99% of humans had already been wiped out in a global war that started forty years before. Everything had changed. Some countries had descended into anarchy, others had adapted and de-centralised to handle the smaller numbers of people, and yet others had concentrated their people into large cities, becoming city-states. Rick's home country of England had collapsed entirely, the USA not faring that much better. But Europe, Iceland and Canada had survived by decentralising their governing structures and agreeing on basic codes of conduct, letting each city-state govern itself. With his new travelling companion, Eveline, Rick has a new mission to add to his own. Not only must he try to find out why the world had changed and lost almost all of its population, but now he had the monumental task of dismantling the Harvesters, an organised, multi-continent syndicate that might well have been responsible for many of the problems the world is currently facing.
