Synopsis:
In the year 2068, William Alexander, a former Marine helicopter pilot, faced a fate worse than death—locked inside his own body after a devastating crash. Diagnosed with Locked-In Syndrome, he became the first subject in Eterna, a revolutionary virtual afterlife disguised as a high-fantasy MMORPG. Given the opportunity to reinvent herself, William embraced a new identity as Enigma, a digital sorceress reborn within the game’s sprawling, mystical world.
But something has gone horribly wrong.
A catastrophic system failure has left Enigma trapped in the tutorial zone, cut off from the outside world. Stripped of her gear, her progress capped at Level 10, and her very existence hanging by a thread of unstable code, she must navigate an ever-shifting digital landscape, unlocking hidden powers and fusing spells in ways never intended by the developers. As she struggles against ghosts of past iterations, AI-driven anomalies, and a game engine built on secrets, a darker truth begins to emerge—Eterna is not just a game. It is the graveyard of failed digital afterlife experiments, a place where minds have been wiped and repurposed as “NPCs.”
Meanwhile, in the real world, her sister Sarah Alexander fights to break through corporate bureaucracy and security firewalls, working alongside Dr. Kami, the brilliant yet broken scientist behind Eterna, and Tim Gallagher, the game’s lead designer. But standing in their way is Hector Zefra, a former intelligence officer turned tech mogul, who sees Eterna not just as a business, but as the key to defying death itself—no matter how many digital souls are lost along the way.
With time running out, Enigma must push the limits of magic, system manipulation, and raw willpower to escape her purgatory before the world forgets she ever existed.
But if she does… will she still be human?
