Synopsis

What to expect: I didn't set out to write a horror novel I wanted to write a traditional fantasy novel but a little on the dark side, unfortunately I overdid the dark part. Now I've got a military/horror story. I'm scrubbing a lot of the really objectionable stuff, so right now the worst thing you're going to see is a cannibal that gets his arms cut off and is led by a leash to his camp, similar to Michonne from the Walking Dead. Just keep in mind there's a lot of stuff similar to that. I like fantasy novels I understand why people read fantasy novels. It's cool to see an ethical hero that uses discipline to gain skills, overcome trials and defeat adversity. This story is almost the opposite of that. The hero is just halfway decent and he is in a series of no-win situations. So why would anyone read it?  Well, maybe if your life isn't going great reading about someone whose life is absolutely horrific might make you feel better. Things could be worse. So anyway, this is a mix of Joe Abercrombie/Stephen King, Starship Troopers and the CIA's involvement in Vietnam, also somehow there are vampires. It's pretty goth. It's kind of a throwback, with moral ambiguity and a nice young lead that gets killed in the first few chapters. The first third is a little secret agent, a little military, and a few battles with the giant bugs. The pacing is quick without a lot of world building. The second third is where plans fall apart. The last third is a horror show. The book is completed. I am dribbling it out a few chapters a week.   Galleria is a world with giant bugs that eat people. The only protection is the Scion's walls, but the secret order has its own agenda. Damon has to leave civilization behind and head into the jungle to search and destroy a renegade with the power to bring down the kingdom. Damon will not come out the same as he went in. Sometimes metamorphosis should be left to the bugs.
