Synopsis

The world started anew 802 years ago.  After unknown centuries of barbarism following The Fall of the old civilization, the first Towers rose from the ground in the ruins of ancient cities like Chicago and Phoenix.   With the rise of the Towers came a measure of control over the Entropy that covered the lands.  Where, before, this chaotic energy prevented any technology more complicated than a bow and arrow from functioning, suddenly the Order Fields of the Towers allowed cities to banish Entropy to varying degrees; allowing steam engines and muskets, or with higher Order, even assault rifles and electricity to be returned to the hands of humanity. The Order wasn’t free.  Each year cities sent their armies to Falling Fields to gather Orbs, the lifeblood, the source of the Flows that were expended to manipulate the Order and Entropy fields.  Cities rich in Flows had tractors for their fields, air conditioning for the homes of the wealthy, and armies bristling with guns and tanks.  Those without struggled to survive, always wanting more. With the rise of the Towers came something more than control of Order and Entropy.  With the rise of the Towers came THE GRIIDLORDS.  Each city was granted 5 Griidsuits, making superheroes of their wearers, individuals with remarkable powers, each the match of a 1000 fighting men. [Just experimenting with renaming the series "The Bloodsword Saga".  Cut me down lads, and tell me how bad the name is and maybe we can find a better one :) ] [ON TUES 15TH OF OCTOBER I FINISHED POSTING A SUBSTANTIAL REWRITE ADDRESSING PLOTHOLES, TONAL ISSUES, ERRORS AND INCONCISTENCIES IDENTIFIED BY READER CONSENSUS.  DETAILS HERE, MUCH SPOILERS: Consolidated Edits (READER CRITIQUES) (Serious spoilers if you're not up to date) - Griidlords: A Throne for a Blood Prince[LitRPG-lite, Progression, Starts Weak, Tournament] | Royal Road] It is the year 802. Tiberius has been pushed to compete for the Sword of Boston by his father.  His father has amassed a great fortune as a merchant, he could buy and sell the castles and lands of the lords of the city, but there is one thing his money can't buy: nobility.   Tiberius has been trained and honed to compete for the Griidsuit.  Winning the suit comes with the founding of a new noble house that would satisfy his father's grandest ambitions.  Tiberius must compete against the sons and daughters of noble houses.  These youths that have been trained by the finest tutors.  These youths come from lines of Griidlords themselves, they see the suit as their birthright.  These youths come from a class that disdains the very notion of a commoner competing for the suit, no matter his wealth. Tiberius must navigate his own doubts, his own inadequacy, and see if he can grow enough in the precious days of the Choosing to become worthy of becoming The Sword of Boston. I have categorized this story as a LitRPG, but it might be more accurately called lite-LITRPG.  I'm new to the genre, but I'm having fun playing with it, so please, be forgiving and don't expect the hardcore stat sheets I've seen in some other stories. What to expect: -Light LitRPG elements woven organically in Tiberius's growing affinity for the suit.  If you don't like LitRPG then these elements won't effect your experience. -Gradual progression, starting at very weak. -Some romance elements, but not a cathartic/substantial element of the story. -Game of Thrones-esque land of intrigue, warfare, alliances, betrayals, and plots. -A Fallout meets Middle-Earth world of medieval cultures melding with the futuristic. -A complex system of cities manipulating Order and Entropy. -Pitched battles. -Blood Prince, unlike A Time of Change and Broken Chains, has essentially one POV character. -Superhero combat. -Mysterious histories, worldbuilding, lore. This Story is set 200 years before "A Time of Change and Broken Chains", but can be read at the same time, or before, or after.   I've called it "Book 2" but it really doesn't effect the experience if you start with Book 1 or Book 2. I think you should start with this one :) You could even read it as a standalone. Note: The history of this world is inspired by the history of the NFL, modern events will be affected by outcomes of live NFL games.  This will add a level of unpredictability, even the writer can’t know everything that’s about to happen.  If you don’t like this idea, or don’t like football, then you can ignore this, it will have ZERO impact on your experience, I promise, so don’t be put off.  But for those who are NFL fans then there will be easter eggs, and for those who want to experience something new, an evolving story where the outcomes of wars and battles are something you can watch unfold on the gridiron on Sundays, then this will bring something you’ve never seen before.
