As they were teleported to Wall of Pallan, Janks was immediately struck by the unique atmosphere of the place. The walls and floors were made of wood, and plants and flowers seemed to crawl up the walls. Green flies buzzed around the room, and a woman approached them, asking if they needed any assistance. "Welcome to Ivy Vergel's store," she said. "I'll be happy to guide you around."
"Can you guide me where the books are" Janks asked, trying to contain his excitement. He had been looking forward to this moment for a long time, and he couldn't wait to start browsing through the shelves and finding all the information he needed about ether.
"Of course," she said. "We have a whole section dedicated to books on ether and its uses. Follow me and I'll show you where it is."
As they followed the woman through the winding corridors of the store, Janks couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building inside him. Finally, they arrived at a large room filled with shelves upon shelves of books. Janks's eyes widened as he took in the sight.
"This is where we keep our collection of books on ether," the woman said, gesturing to the shelves. "I'm sure you'll find something that interests you here."
As they arrived at the book section, Janks scanned the shelves, looking for a good place to start. He had already studied books on making ether, and already making it, but he wasn't sure if there were any differences between that one and the more well-known alchemists in Pallan. He wondered if the woman had any suggestions for a good introduction to the subject.
"Do you have any recommendations for a good book on ether?" Janks asked the woman, trying to hide the fact that he had already read one. "I'm just looking for a basic introduction to the subject."
The woman smiled and nodded. "Of course," she said, leading them over to a shelf. "I would recommend this one. It's written by the store owner one of the most respected alchemists in Pallan and covers all the basic principles of ether creation."
Janks examined the book, impressed by its thickness and the detail on the cover. He knew that he would be spending a lot of time studying this one, but he was determined to become proficient in ether creation. He nodded to the woman and placed the book in his basket.
Janks looked around the shelves, his eyes scanning the rows of books. "Do you have any books on how to make rune activation faster?" he asked the woman.
The woman looked at him with a confused expression. "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean," she said. "Are you looking for a specific type of ether?"
Janks nodded. "Yes, I'm trying to find a way to speed up the activation process for runes."
As Janks waiting for a reply, they heard a woman shouting from the other side of the room. "Abby! Abby, where are you?"
The woman burst into the room, she had bright green hair styled in wild waves and deep green eyes that sparkled with mischief. She wore a coat over her busty, curvy figure and reeked of alcohol as she entered the room. "Abby, have you seen where I put the new shipment of alcohol?" she asked, her words slightly slurred.
"Ooh lala, just my type of woman," Aaros said with a wink as the tall, busty woman with bright green hair and sparkling green eyes burst into the room. "What are you looking for, my dear?" he asked, trying to sound smooth and suave.
The woman looked at Aaros with a mixture of confusion and disgust. "What do you think I'm looking for?" she snapped. "I'm looking for the new shipment of alcohol. Have you seen where Abby put it?"
Aaros chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. "Sorry, can't help you there. But if you need someone to help you drink it, I'm your man."
The woman just rolled her eyes and stormed off, still muttering about her missing alcohol.
Reeve rolled his eyes and nudged Aaros in the ribs. "Come on, man. Show some respect,"
He said. As he introduce himself to the woman "I'm Reeve, by the way. Nice to meet you." he also added "Well, I'm single and also looking for someone."
Aaros and Reeve both looked at each other with angry faces, ready to fight. Janks couldn't help but laugh at their ridiculous behavior. "Guys, calm down," he said. "We're here to buy books, not pick up women."
Abby, who had been guiding them around the store, shook her head apologetically. "I'm sorry, Ivy, but we have customers at the moment. Maybe we can discuss this later?"
Ivy's gaze landed on Janks, and she let out a loud laugh. "Customers? In my store? Ha! Well, I guess I can't ignore you forever. What can I do for you?" She swayed slightly on her feet as she waited for their response.
"are you the store owner?" Janks asked.
Ivy turned to him, a confused look on her face. "Why are you asking such a stupid question? My name is Ivy, and this is the Ivy Vergel store." She rolled her eyes and huffed, clearly annoyed by the question.
Just as Janks was about to apologize for his mistake, Abby stepped in between them, scolding Ivy for her rude behavior towards the customer. "I'm so sorry, Sir," she said, bowing her head in apology. "Ivy's had a bit too much to drink today. Please excuse her behavior."
"So what are they looking for?" Ivy asked Abby.
Ivy's eyes widened as she listened to Abby's explanation. "How do you come up with that?" she asked, her voice dripping with suspicion. "Rune activation is already fast enough as it is. I don't see any reason why would you want to speed up the process."
Janks hesitated for a moment before answering. "I want to learn about it so I can fight against conjurers"
Reeve, Aaros, and Abby all looked shocked as they listened to Janks's reason for wanting to learn about ether. They had never heard of anyone wanting to use it specifically to fight against conjurers before.
Ivy looked at Janks with a calm expression, studying him carefully. As she listened to his reason for wanting to learn about faster rune activation, a memory from the past seemed to flash through her mind. She remembered another young man with the same goal as Janks, and a pang of sadness washed over her.
"I'm sorry," she said, shaking her head. "I don't have any books on that topic."
Janks felt disappointed as he heard Ivy's response. He had been hoping to find a book here, but it seemed that wasn't possible. He had heard that Ivy Vergel's store was the most recommended shop for ether-related stuffs, so he had been hopeful that he would find what he was looking for. But it seemed that wasn't the case. "I see," he said, trying to hide his disappointment. "Well, thank you for your time. I'll have to look elsewhere."
As Janks and his group were preparing to leave after purchasing the recommended books from Abby.
Ivy looked at Janks with a guilty expression as she saw the disappointment on his face. "Wait!" she called out before Janks could leave, her voice laced with concern. "It's not exactly what you're looking for, but I have some research related on the topic. Are you interested in taking a look?"
